[showing Bella a poster of a missing teenager]
Charlie Swan: This kid, Riley Biers, disappeared over a year ago. Me and his poor parents have been papering Seattle with these things ever since.
Bella Swan: You think they should just give up?
Charlie Swan: Well, I wouldn't. If it were you, not ever.
Bella Swan: I have to figure out what to tell people. Why I won't be home for Christmases and why I won't visit. Why they'll never see me again.
Edward Cullen: After a few decades, everyone you'll know will be dead. Problem solved.
Bella Swan: Why are you so against me becoming like you?
Edward Cullen: I told you.
Bella Swan: Be honest with me. There's more.
Edward Cullen: I know the consequences of this choice you're making. I've lived through it, and to let you suffer that...You believe I have a soul and I don't, but to risk yours just for the sake of never having to lose you is the most selfish thing I'll ever do.
Bella Swan: I thought that you were afraid that I'd feel different and like, I wouldn't be warm. I wouldn't smell the same.
[he holds her closer]
Edward Cullen: You'll always be my Bella. My Bella, just less fragile.
Jacob Black: I just wanna do this differently. Smoother, but now I'm out of time.
Bella Swan: Do what?
Jacob Black: You need to hear the truth Bella. Understand all your options, and you need to know that I'm in love with you and I want you to choose me instead of him.
Bella Swan: I thought you understood. I don't feel that way for you.
Jacob Black: I don't buy it.
Bella Swan: What don't you buy? That's how I feel.
Jacob Black: You feel something else for me. You just won't admit it. So, I'm not givin' up. I'm gonna fight for you, until your heart stops beating.
Bella Swan: Well, then you're not gonna have to fight for long.
Jacob Black: You're rushing into to it because you're afraid you'll change your mind.
Bella Swan: No, I'm not. I know what I want.
Jacob Black: You wouldn't have to change for me, Bella, or say goodbye to anybody. I can give you more than him. I mean he probably can't even kiss you withou hurting you.
[he takes her hand and puts it to his heart]
Jacob Black: Feel that. Flesh and blood and warmth.
[Jacob kisses her and she pushes him away and punches him in the face]
Edward Cullen: If you ever touch her against her will again...
Bella Swan: Edward! Don't do this!
Jacob Black: She's not sure what she wants.
Edward Cullen: Well, let me give you a clue. Wait for her to say the words.
Jacob Black: Fine. She will.
Bella Swan: Jacob, just go, okay?
[after breaking up the fight between Edward and Jacob]
Charlie Swan: What's going on?
Jacob Black: I kissed Bella. And she broke her hand punching my face. Total misunderstanding.
[Carlisle is bandaging Bella's hand]
Bella Swan: I punched a werewolf in the face.
Emmett Cullen: Badass! You'll be one little tough new born.
Bella Swan: Tough enough to take you on.
[Rosalie on hearing this exchange gets angry and gets up and walks out of the room]
Rosalie Hale: Go blather to someone else about the joys of becoming a newborn.
Bella Swan: Okay. Rosalie, I don't understand what I did to make you hate me so much.
Rosalie Hale: I don't hate you. I don't particularly like you, but...Bella I envy you.
Bella Swan: What? That's ridiculous.
Rosalie Hale: No, it's not. You have a choice. I didn't, none of us did, but you do and you're choosing wrong. I don't care how miserable your human life is.
Bella Swan: My life is not miserable. It's not perfect, nobody's life is perfect.
Rosalie Hale: Mine was. Aboslutely perfect. There were things I still wanted. To be married with a nice house and a husband who kissed me when he came home. A family of my own.
[flash back of Rosalie in her old human life]
Rosalie Hale: [voice over] Royce King was the most eligible bachelor in town, I barely knew him. But I was young, I was in love with the idea of love. On the last night of my life I left a friends house late, I wasn't far from home...
[flash back shows Royce King abusing Rosalie in front of his friends]
Rosalie Hale: They left me in the street thinking I was dead, believe me I wanted to be. Carlisle found me, he smelled all the blood, but he was helping me.
Bella Swan: I'm sorry.
Rosalie Hale: I got my revenge on them, one at a time. Saved Royce for last so he would know I was coming. I was a little theatrical back then. Things got better after I met Emmett, but we'll always be this, frozen, never moving forward. That's what I miss the most, possibilities, sitting on a front porch somewhere, Emmett grey haired by my side surrounded by our grandchildren, their laughter.
Bella Swan: I understand that's what you want. There's nothing I'm ever gonna want more than Edward.
Rosalie Hale: You're wrong again, after you've been changed there's one thing you'll want more. One thing you'll kill for...blood.
[to the new born vampires]
Riley: Somethings coming, something bigger than any of us alone. And if you can't control yourselves, we're all going to die. What's done is done, just clean up after yourselves.
[referring to the newborn vampires reaking havoc in the city]
Demetri: They've already drawn too much attention.
Felix: So has our inaction. Other maybe getting the questionning the Volturi's effectiveness
Jane: Let them.
Felix: Maybe we should consult with Aro.
[Jane causes Felix to feel pain]
Jane: Aro had visions of being watched. We must decide.
Alec: Then decide sister.
[referring to the newborn vampires]
Jane: We really let them do what they were created for, or we end them. Decisions, decisions.
[giving her graduation speech]
Jessica: When we were five they asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up, our answers w
ere things
like, astronaut, president or in my case a princess. When we were ten
they asked us again we answered, rockstar, cowboy or in my case a gold
medalist. But now that we've grown up they want a serious answer. Well,
how about this, who the hell knows! This isn't the time to make hard,
fast decisions. This is the time to make mistakes, take the wrong train
and get stuck somewhere, fall in love...alot. Major in philosophy,
because there's no way to make a career out of that. Change your mind
and change it again, because nothing's permanent. So make as many
mistakes as you can, that way someday when they ask what we wanna be we
won't have to guess, we'll know. [at Alice's graduation party]
Jessica: What did you think of my speech? Too easy breezy, too self helpful, you hated it?
Bella Swan: No, I think you pretty much nailed it.
Jessica: Yeah, it's like I was born to lead right?
Bella Swan: What are you doing here?
Jacob Black: You invited me, remember?
Bella Swan: Was my right hook too subtle for you. That was me uninviting you.
Jacob Black: Look, Bella I'm sorry, about you know...the kiss and your hand. I'd blame it on the whole inner animal thing, but it was really just...me being an ass. I'm really sorry.
[Bella notice Alice is having a vision]
Bella Swan: Alice, what'd you see?
Alice Cullen: A decision has been made.
Jacob Black: What's going on?
Bella Swan: They're not going to Seattle.
Alice Cullen: No, they're coming here.
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: This could turn into a blood bath.
Edward Cullen: Who's behind it?
Alice Cullen: I didn't see anyone I recognized. Maybe one.
Edward Cullen: I know his face. He's local, Riley Biers. He didn't start this.
Jasper Whitlock: Either way, the army is coming and there aren't enough of us to protect the town.
Jacob Black: Hold up, what damn army?
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: Newborns, our kind.
Jacob Black: They're after Bella? What the hell does this mean?
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: It means and ugly fight, with lives lost.
Jacob Black: All right. We're in.
Bella Swan: No, you'd get yourselves killed. No way.
Jacob Black: I wasn't asking for permission.
Bella Swan: Edward?
Edward Cullen: It means more protection for you.
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: Jacob, do you believe Sam would agree to an understanding?
Jacob Black: As long as we get to kill some vampires.
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: Jasper?
Jasper Whitlock: It'll give us the numbers. Newborns won't even know they exist. It'll give us an edge.
Bella Swan: Jake, you don't know what you're getting yourself into.
Jacob Black: Bella, this is what we do. You should be happy, look at us, we're working together. You are the one who wanted us to get along, remember?
[noticing the pack of wolves arriving at their training session]
Edward Cullen: They don't trust us enough to be in their human forms.
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: They came, that's what matters. Will you translate?
[to the wolf pack]
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: Welcome, Jasper has experience with the newborns, teach us how to defeat them.
[Edward reads the wolves minds and translates their answer]
Edward Cullen: They wanna know how the newborns differ from us.
Dr. Carlisle Cullen: They're a great deal stronger than us because their own human blood lingers in their tissues. Our kind is never more physically powerful than in our first several months of this life.
[to the wolf pack]
Jasper Whitlock: A newborn army doesn't need thousands like a human army. But no human army can stand against them. Now the two most important things to remember are; first never let them get their arms around you, they'll crush you instantly. The second, never go for the obvious kill, they'll be expecting that and you will lose.
[to Edward as he throws Carlisle in their mock fight and turns his back on him]
Jasper Whitlock: One more thing, never turn your back on your enemy.
[just then Carlisle gets up and throws Edward to the ground]
[Jake in his wolf form comes and stands close next to Bella]
Bella Swan: Some of you are gonna get hurt. Some of you could get killed, because of me. This could to be a hundred times worse than this, right?
[the wolf puts his head close to Bella and she strokes his head tenderly]
Bella Swan: Jasper, are you sure there's nothing I can do to help?
Jasper Whitlock: Well, your presence alone, your scent will distract the newborns. Their hunting instincts will take over, drive them crazy.
Bella Swan: Good, I'm glad.
Bella Swan: Hey, how do you know so much about this?
Jasper Whitlock: I didn't have quite the same upbringing as my adopted siblings.
[Jasper reveals his arms showing bites on them]
Bella Swan: Those bites are like mind.
Jasper Whitlock: Battle scars. All the training the confedrate army gave me was useless against the newborns. Still, I've never lost a fight.
[Jasper starts to walk away]
Bella Swan: Hey, this happened during the civil war?
Jasper Whitlock: I was the youngest major in the Texas Cavalry. All without having seen a real battle.
Bella Swan: Until...
Jasper Whitlock: Until I met a certain immortal...Maria.
Jasper Whitlock: [voice over]I was riding back to Galveston after evacuating a colony of women and children when I saw them. I immediately offered them my aid.
[flash back of Jasper coming across three young women, one of which was Maria]
Bella Swan: Maria was creating an army?
Jasper Whitlock: They were very common in the south. Constant brutal battles for territory. Maria won 'em all. She was smart, careful and she had me. I was her second in command, my ability to control emotions served her well. I trained her newborns, but in this occupation, since she never let them live beyond the first year, is my job to dispose of them. I could feel everything they felt.
[to Bella]
Jasper Whitlock: I thought what Maria and I had was love. But I was her puppet, she pulled the strings. I didn't know there was another way, till I found Alice. How she seen me coming of course.
[just then Alice comes over to him]
Alice Cullen: You kept me waiting long enough.
Jasper Whitlock: My apologies ma'am. I don't know what I'd become without her.
Alice Cullen: Shh...you never have to be that again.
[they kiss]
[after Bella wakes up from a bad dream]
Edward Cullen: What is it?
Bella Swan: The intruder, the newborn army, they're all her puppets. Victoria.
Edward Cullen: Alice would have seen if she wanted to make an army.
Bella Swan: Unless she's hiding behind them and she's letting someone else decide.
Edward Cullen: If it's Victoria involved I need to keep you as far away from the fight as possible.
Bella Swan: Jasper said that I could be of help.
Edward Cullen: We won't need your help. With the wolves in this it's an easy win. The rest of us are gonna have enough to do.
Bella Swan: Okay, either it's so dangerous that I have to hide or it's so easy that you're gonna be sidelined. Which is it?
Edward Cullen: It's dangerous for you. It's easy for us.
Bella Swan: I think it's dangerous for us to be apart. How many times do we have to prove that. I'll be worrying, you...you'll be worried and we'll both be more vulnerable.
Edward Cullen: Okay, you're right.
Bella Swan: So, I'm coming with you.
Edward Cullen: No, we both stay away together.
Bella Swan: I can't make you choose between me and your family. It's...
Edward Cullen: The only way I can protect you is to be with you.
Jacob Black: You're not fighting? What, did you pull a muscle or something?
Bella Swan: He's doing it for me, okay?
Jacob Black: Whatever, just tell me the plan.
Bella Swan: Edward and I are going on a campsite, even if he carries me they'll still pick up our scents.
Edward Cullen: Your stench, however, is revolting.
Jacob Black: Dude you really don't wanna start comparing stinks.
Bella Swan: What he means is that your scent will mask mine if you carry me.
Jacob Black: Done.
Edward Cullen: This is not a good idea.
Jasper Whitlock: Edward, they won't wanna get anywhere near his odor.
[after picking Bella up to carry her]
Jacob Black: Odor-de-wolf comin' up.
Jacob Black: So, are you gonna ask me to sit out of the fight too, or don't you care about my safety?
Bella Swan: Of course I care. But you'd say no.
Jacob Black: I won't have a choice anyways. Since I let Sam be alpha male, I gotta live with the shots he calls.
Bella Swan: Since you let Sam be alpha?
Jacob Black: I didn't wanna be in the pack, let alone be it's leader.
Bella Swan: Wow, chief Jacob!
Jacob Black: Opted out, but every choice has it's consequences. Some more than others.
Bella Swan: Everybody makes choices, you're gonna have to accept mine.
Jacob Black: You can love more than one person at a time. I've seen it, with Sam and Emily and Leah.
Bella Swan: Well, I' not a wolf. I can't imprint.
Jacob Black: It has nothing to do with imprinting. It has to do with feeling something for somebody and I know you feel something for me. I can sense how I make you feel physically, I make you nervous.
[he leans closer as if to kiss her]
Bella Swan: Jake.
Jacob Black: Don't worry, I promised I wouldn't kiss you again until you asked.
Bella Swan: And you remember keeping that promise for a while, chief.
Alice Cullen: You're alibi for the battle is all arranged.
Bella Swan: Really?
Alice Cullen: I told your father that our whole family is going camping this weekend. So you and I are having a sleepover at my house. Charlie's going fishing anyway.
Bella Swan: Charlie? You guys are on a first name basis now?
Alice Cullen: Me, he likes. Actually, you and Edward will have the house to yourselves tonight.
Bella Swan: Like alone?
Alice Cullen: We're all going hunting, powering up for the battle.
[Bella remains silent]
Alice Cullen: You're welcome.
