Spin-off fantasy drama from the Harry Potter movie series and directed by David Yates, the film was written by J. K. Rowling.

The story opens in 1926 as Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) has just completed a global excursion to find and document an extraordinary array of magical creatures. After arriving in New York for a brief stopover and to meet an important official at the Magical Congress of the United States of America, the meeting unfortunately doesn’t go quite as planned due to a No-Maj (American for Muggle) named Jacob (Dan Fogler), a misplaced magical case which houses a number of dangerous creatures and their habitats, and the escape of some of Newt’s fantastic beasts from the case, which could spell trouble for both the wizarding and No-Maj worlds.

Best Quotes from Trailer:

Newt Scamander: Lumos Maxima. Lumos Maxima.

Percival Graves: You’re not just a man, Mr. Scamander, just like your suitcase. I think there’s much more to you than meets the eye. Kicked out of Hogwarts for dangering human life with a beast, yet one of your teachers argued strongly against your expulsion. I wonder, what makes Albus Dumbledore so fond of you, Mr. Scamander?

[in customs]
Customs Officer: First trip to America?
Newt Scamander: Yes.
[the creature in his suitcase opens one of its latches]
Newt Scamander: Must get that fixed.
Customs Officer: Anything edible in there?
[he presses a button on the front of his suitcase which says “Muggles Worthy”]
Newt Scamander: Um, no. No.
[the customs officer opens up Scamander’s suitcase and we see it contains his clothes]
Customs Officer: Any livestock?
Newt Scamander: No.
[the customs officer gives Scamander a look before handing him his passport]
Customs Officer: Welcome to New York.

Porpentina Goldstein: Yesterday a wizard entered New York with a case. A case full of magical creatures, and unfortunately some have escaped.

[Newt opens his magical case; we hear the magical creatures before Newt quickly closes it]
Porpentina Goldstein: It was open?
Newt Scamander: Just a smidge.

Porpentina Goldstein: Mr. Scamander, do you know anything about the wizarding community in America? We don’t let things loose.

Gnarlack: So you’re the guy with the case full of monsters, huh?
Newt Scamander: News travels fast.

Seraphina Picquery: You’ve known for twenty-four hours an unregistered wizard set magical beasts loose in New York?
Porpentina Goldstein: Yes.
Seraphina Picquery: Where is this man?
[she places the case on the floor, knocks on it, it opens and Newt pops out his head]

Percival Graves: No human can do what this thing is capable of.

Witness: It was like a…like a ghost. I saw its eyes, shining white eyes and it dove down underground.

Jacob Kowalski: Hey, Mr. English Guy, I think your egg is hatching!

Jacob Kowalski: There’s strange things going on all over the city. People behind this are not like you and me. There’s a hidden society, it goes back centuries.

Porpentina Goldstein: You wiped his memory, right? The No-Maj.
Newt Scamander: What?
Porpentina Goldstein: No-Maj, the non-wizard!
Newt Scamander: Sorry, we call them muggles.

[referring to Newt and Jacob]
Queenie Goldstein: Tin, you brought me home.
Porpentina Goldstein: This is Mr. Scamander, he’s lost something, I’m going to help him.
Queenie Goldstein: Fine.

Newt Scamander: We’re going to recapture my creatures before they get hurt. They’re currently in alien terrain surrounded by millions of the most vicious creatures on the planet; humans.

Seraphina Picquery: Magical beasts are terrorizing no-mages, when no-mages are afraid they attack. Contain this, or it’ll mean war.

[hands Jacob a helmet]
Newt Scamander: Put this on.
Jacob Kowalski: But why would I have to wear something like this?
Newt Scamander: Because your skull is susceptible to breakage under immense force.

Newt Scamander: Don’t panic. There’s absolutely nothing to worry about.
[suddenly a massive beast scurries towards them]

Jacob Kowalski: I want to be a wizard.

[inside Newt’ suitcase]
Jacob Kowalski: I don’t think I’m dreaming. I ain’t got the brains to make this up.

Mary Lou: Something is stalking our city, reaping destruction and then disappearing without a trace! Witches live among us.

Percival Graves: [to Credence] We’ve lived in the shadows for too long.

Percival Graves: I ask all of you, who does this protect? Us or them?

Percival Graves: I refuse to bow down anymore.

Seraphina Picquery: This is the way that Grindelwald attacked in Europe, this could mean war.

Jacob Kowalski: We got a plan, right, guys?
Newt Scamander: They need our help.

Percival Graves: [to Newt] Was that everything that came out of the case?

Newt Scamander: I won’t let another one die.

Percival Graves: Time is running out, Mr. Scamander.
