Elise Rainier: It’s not the house that’s haunted. It’s your son.
Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013)
Young Elise Rainier: In my line of work things tend to happen when it gets dark.
Lorraine Lambert: Whatever it was that was haunting my family, it’s not done with us.
Dalton Lambert: I heard voices in the hallway. Is there something wrong with daddy, mom?
Josh Lambert: Nothing’s gonna bother us, not anymore. We have our son back, we are a family again.
Josh Lambert: I know what happened. I went into that place to get our son back, something evil followed me!
[as they stand in a dark room]
Parker Crane: There’s someone standing in front of you, he’s talking to you.
Josh Lambert: What’s he saying?
Parker Crane: He’s got your baby. He’s got your baby. He’s got your baby. He’s got your baby. He’s got your baby…
[suddenly an old naked man stands right in front of Josh]
Old Man: He’s got your baby!
[Renai is being interrogated]
Sendal: And did you really believe that would help?
Renai Lambert: I had to. Whatever she did, it worked, Dalton woke up.
Sendal: And what happened after your son woke up?
[we see flashback showing Renai finding Elise dead sat in her seat]
Renai Lambert: Josh!
[Renai runs out of the room to look for Josh]
Renai Lambert: Josh, where are you? Josh!
[Renai comes back into the room, she picks up the camera fallen on the floor, she looks at the image on the camera and is horrified, at that moment Josh comes up behind her]
Josh Lambert: Renai, I’m right here.
[Renai turns and looks at Josh in terror]
Josh Lambert: What?
[at that moment Lorraine runs into the room; Josh is still looking at Renai]
Josh Lambert: What…you…?
[Josh suddenly realizes Elise is dead and goes over to her]
Josh Lambert: Oh, no, no, no! No, no, no, no! Elise! Elise! Mom, get Dalton out of here! Call an ambulance!
[Lorraine runs out of the room]
Josh Lambert: No, no, no. Elise! Oh, no! No, no.
[Josh backs away from Elise’s body and looks at Renai, who is looking suspiciously at him]
Josh Lambert: What? Why are you looking at me like that? You think I did this?
[back in the interrogation room; to Renai]
Sendal: Did you believe him?
Insidious: Chapter 3 (2015)
Elise Rainier: You’re going to be okay, Quinn. But take my advice and do not try and contact your mother on your own anymore. You have to be very careful. If you call out to one of the dead, all of them can hear you.
Sean Brenner: I don’t know what’s real and I don’t know what to do to stop it.
Elise Rainier: Time spent in conversation is never wasted.
Quinn Brenner: What’s happening to me?
Elise Rainier: I had a vision of you. A man couldn’t breathe. This entity is very dangerous.
Elise Rainier: It’s feeding on her soul.
Sean Brenner: What’s happening? Could she die?
Elise Rainier: Yes. If we don’t hurry it’s going to get her. I’m going to have to go to where it lives.
Specs: Does this other plane have a name?
Elise Rainier: Let’s call it “The Further.”
Sean Brenner: Bring her back! Bring her her back! You said you could bring her back!
Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)
Louis: That morning I was not yet a vampire, and I saw my last sunrise. I remember it completely, and yet I can’t recall any sunrise before it. I watched the whole magnificence of the dawn for the last time as if it were the first. And then I said farewell to sunlight, and set out to become what I became.
It Follows (2014)
Hugh: Wherever you are, it’s somewhere walking straight for you. All you can do is a pass it along to someone else.
Jay: I used to daydream about being old enough to go on dates. I had this image of myself holding hands with a really cute guy, driving along some pretty road. It was never about going anywhere really. It’s how I pictured freedom, I guess.
[Jay wakes to find herself tied to a chair dressed only in her underwear]
Hugh: Jay, are you awake?
Jay: What are you doing?
Hugh: You’re not gonna believe me, but I need you to remember what I’m saying. This thing, it’s gonna follow you. Somebody gave it to me and I passed it to you, back in the car. It could look like someone you know, or it could be a stranger in a crowd. Whatever helps to get close to you. It can look like anyone, but there’s only one of it.
Jay: Help. Help!
Jay: I’m scared. I need to find him.
Greg: What did he really do to you?
Jay: Apparently he used a fake name to rent a house in the city.
Greg: This isn’t real. I swear to you, it’s just some game.
Jay: He told me that he passed it on to me. Something’s gonna follow me.
Greg: What exactly is supposed to follow you?
Jay: I don’t know.
[to Jay and her friends]
Hugh: If it kills her, it gets me. It goes straight down the line to whoever started it.
Greg: Something happened. It’s now what she thinks, okay?
Jay: You don’t believe me.

Bel: Cheating Evan who?

Bel: You’re a life saver. Not everyone would let strangers into their house.
Evan Webber: You don’t look that dangerous.
Bel: I’m not so sure.
Genesis: A husband, a father of two. What is the proper punishment for a cheater? Death.
Evan Webber: I was a good guy! I am a good father!
Genesis: This is what happens when you break the rules of the game, Evan.
Bel: We have to punish you!

The Mist (2007)
Amanda Dunfrey: You don’t have much faith in humanity, do you?
Dan Miller: None, whatsoever.
Amanda Dunfrey: I can’t accept that. People are basically good; decent. My god, David, we’re a civilized society.
David Drayton: Sure, as long as the machines are working and you can dial 911. But you take those things away, you throw people in the dark, you scare the shit out of them: no more rules.
Ollie: As a species we’re fundamentally insane. Put more than two of us in a room, we pick sides and start dreaming up reasons to kill one another. Why do you think we invented politics and religion?
A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)
Children: [singing] One, two, Freddy’s coming for you. Three, four, better lock your door. Five, six, grab your crucifix. Seven, eight, gonna stay up late. Nine, ten, never sleep again…

Nancy: I know you’re there Freddy.
Freddy Krueger: You think you was gonna get away from me?
Nancy: I know you too well, Freddy.
Freddy Krueger: Now you die.
Nancy: It’s too late, Krueger. I know the secret now. This is just a dream. You’re not alive. This whole thing is just a dream.
[she turns around and faces him]
Nancy: I want my mother and friends again.
Freddy Krueger: You what?
Nancy: I take back every bit of energy I gave you. You’re nothing. You’re shit.
Young Kaylie Russell: See the mirror hanging there? Face of silver, frame of black. Oculus of glass, I stare. I can feel you staring back. I hear your voice, believe your lies. A window, portal, a darkened door. Should you claim my staring eyes, my soul you hold forever more.
[filming herself; referring to the mirror]
Kaylie Russell: My name is Kaylie Anne Russell. The purpose of today’s experiment is to prove that the object behind me is responsible for at least forty-five deaths in the four centuries of its recorded existence.
Kaylie Russell: First I intend to prove that the people I just described were victims of the super natural force that resides in that mirror.
Tim Russell: We were just kids, we made up a scary story so we wouldn’t have to accept the fact that our father was a sick man who killed our mom.
Alan Russell: I’ve met my demons and they are many. I’ve seen the devil, and he is me.
The Omen (1976)

Mrs. Mills: Sometimes the world of the living gets mixed up with the world of the dead.
Grace: At first I couldn’t understand what the pillows where doing in my hands and why you didn’t move, but then I knew, it had happened, I killed my children. I got the rifle, I put it to my forehead and I pulled the trigger, nothing, and I heard your laughter in the bedroom, you were playing with the pillows as if nothing had happened, and I thought the Lord and his great mercy was giving me another chance, tell them, don’t give up, be strong, be a good mother but now, but now what does this all mean? Where are we?
Anne: They’re everywhere. They say this house is theirs.

Anne: Are you mad? I am your daughter.

Diane: Sweetheart, last night, when you said “They’re here…”
Carol Anne: Can I take my goldfish to school?
Diane: Sweetheart, do you remember last night when you woke up, and you said “They’re here?”
Carol Anne: Uh-huh.
Diane: Well, who did you mean?
Carol Anne: The TV People.
Robbie: She’s stoned.
Dana: Oh yeah? What do you know about it?
Robbie: More than you. Ask Dad.
Diane: You were saying about poltergeist.
Dr. Lesh: Poltergeists are usually associated with an individual. Hauntings seem to be connected with an area. A house usually.
Marty: Poltergeist disturbances are fairly short duration. Perhaps a couple of months. Hauntings can go on for years.
Diane: Are you telling me that all of this could just suddenly end at any time?
Dr. Lesh: Yes, it could. Unless it’s a haunting. But hauntings don’t usually revolve around living people.
Diane: Then we don’t have much time, Dr. Lesh, because my daughter is alive somewhere inside this house.

Sheriff Al Chambers: Now wait a minute, Sam, are you sure you saw an old woman?
Sam Loomis: Yes! In the house behind the motel! I called and I pounded, but she just ignored me.
Sheriff Al Chambers: You mean to tell me you saw Norman Bates’ mother?
Lila Crane: It had to be, because Arbogast said so too. And the young man wouldn’t let him see her because she was too ill.
Sheriff Al Chambers: Well, if the woman up there is Mrs. Bates…who’s that woman buried out in Greenlawn Cemetery?

When there’s that much poison in your blood, the only thing left to do is shoot yourself. There are ways to win this, hidden all around you. Just remember, X marks the spot for the treasure. If you do not kill Adam by six, then Alison and Diana will die, Dr. Gordon…and I’ll leave you in this room to rot. Let the game begin.
Dr. Lawrence Gordon: He doesn’t want us to cut through our chains. He wants us to cut through our feet!

Sidney Prescott: You sick fucks, you’ve seen one too many movies!
Billy: Now Sid, don’t you blame the movies, movies don’t create psychos, movies make psychos more creative!

MacReady: I know I’m human. And if you were all these things, then you’d just attack me right now, so some of you are still human. This thing doesn’t want to show itself, it wants to hide inside an imitation. It’ll fight if it has to, but it’s vulnerable out in the open. If it takes us over, then it has no more enemies, nobody left to kill it. And then it’s won.
