Minor Spoilers!

In all honesty, I have not watched the previous Mad Max film franchise which starred Mel Gibson as the lead character and the hype surrounding the newest installment of the Mad Max franchise, Mad Max: Fury Road made me want to go catch this film. The films has many similarities and distinct features from the hit game franchise Borderlands which I noticed throughout the film which I think it is kind of cool and would like the sequel to further explore the different characters in better depth. The future does belong to Mad Max as Tom Hardy’s acting chops is commendable.

Mad Max: Fury Road is set in a post-apocalyptic world where earth has become a desolate wasteland and civilization has been eroded, turning humans into savages. Director George Miller continues to deliver the long-awaited story of Mad Max which is portrayed by Tom Hardy. The film opens with the introduction of the War Boys, a fraction which is led by the tyrant and ruthless King Immortan Joe. The detail of the costumes and the environment intrigued me as a lot of effort was spent in the designing of the props and the costumes of every single character. Furiosa who is portrayed by Charlize Theron’s performance in this film is praise worthy as she sports a shaved head and still manages to look intimidating at the same time.

After being in development hell for so many years, Mad Max: Fury Road continues to deliver a stellar performance in the areas of acting and casting of the characters. Tom Hardy embodies the role of a survivor in a wasteland where craziness is acceptable and humanity is reduced to slavery. The fight scenes are well choreographed and it shows the development of the antagonist King Immortan Joe in dispatching his army to stop both Mad Max and Furiosa from overthrowing his reign on the humans who are oppressed by his leadership.

Coma the Doof Warrior provided most of the soundtrack in the film with his intense guitar riffs and flame throwing guitar backed by a huge speaker system. These memorable moments gave the film much needed life and revitalized interest in the Mad Max franchise that would appeal to the younger generation of fans. George Miller really did put in an original exciting story-line combined with heart-stopping craziness of the different characters in the film. The film combines both art and great acting to deliver a masterpiece of creativity and craziness which complements the action sequences in the film.

The winning formula of Mad Max: Fury Road is that it differs from just plain action films but that of an emotional, yet action-packed story-line of memorable characters with eccentric agendas. Junkie XL who is the film’s composer brings out the intensity of each scene with its matching soundtrack that adds more excitement in the race and fight scenes. I am looking forward to the sequel of Mad Max: Fury Road in the hope that George Miller focuses on more characters in the Mad Max franchise and in exploring their back stories. The revitalization of the Mad Max franchise shows that there are new stories to be told and it would be nice if characters from the previous Mad Max films could make cameos in the sequels to show inter-connectivity in the story-line.

Mad Max: Fury Road definitely pulls all the stops in putting forth a motion picture masterpiece of its own which is unique and has not been seen in a long time. This makes the film worth the money to watch and I would not be surprise if it attracts newcomers and loyal fans that are waiting for more stories from the highly successful franchise.
