Rouge Nation is the fifth entry in the Mission Impossible franchise and brings back Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt as well as Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn and Jeremy Renner as William Brandt.

This movie really ups the scale in almost every way. The direction taken in this film by Christopher McQuarrie is almost immaculate, probably making this the best Mission directing wise.

Tom Cruise is always great as Ethan Hunt, a character that seems Cruise is in real life, due to the fact that he does almost if not all of his stunts. Simon Pegg really shines in this movie compared to his role in MI3 and Ghost Protocol. It’s great to have Ving Rhames back as well as Renner, although they are not really that much in the movie.

But the real standouts come from the new characters this movie offers: Alec Baldwin as the head of the CIA was incredible, Sean Harris as the bad guy really stands as one of the best in the franchise (Seymour Hoffman being the best IMO) but the beauty of this villain is that in a way is an opposite to Hunt which really makes you feel great tension between the two.

But in all honesty the real standout of the movie goes to Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust. She really knocks it out of the park with this performance making her one of the most badass female characters out there.

In the end, Rouge Nation is an incredible action movie with amazing performances and direction, making it one of the best in the whole franchise.
