The Fault in Our Stars was one of the most anticipated romantic films of 2014. The novel has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide, so success was highly expected from the film. The film carries a strong message to the viewer that although your situation may be tough there is someone out there suffering in a worst manner. Josh Boone was able to make this movie a hit with his choice of cast, storyline and music.
Tears are inevitable when watching this film. One may be tough but this love story certainly touches everyone’s heart. Hazel Grace (Shailene Woodley) and Augustus (Ansel Elgort), the protagonists, deliver a heart melting performance. Their professionalism and talent is showcased all throughout the movie. The chemistry between them is noticeable in every scene together from the way they dig into each other’s eyes to the passion in their kisses. It is not common for actors to have such strong chemistry when filming love scenes but theirs’ seems to be effortless. Boone had a great eye when choosing the cast for this film. Through the hopelessly romantic scenes and tears, there will also be some comedic moments. Isaac (Natt Wolff) is responsible for that. He may be half blind but his charisma wins everyone over, it’s even enough to land him a voluptuous, attractive girlfriend, a girl who is miles out of his league as many people say.
The Fault in Our Stars introduces us into the world of cancer, a disease we’ve heard about, but we really don’t know what it is until it touches us personally. The actors Shailene Woodley (Hazel Grace), Ansel Elgort (Augustus), and Natt Wolff (Isaac) deliver amazing performances full of emotion. They show us the suffering people with this life taking disease have to experience. Hazel Grace is not only worried about herself but also about her mother and father, she doesn’t want them to be stuck in a hole of suffrage after her death. The concerns as well as all the chemotherapies and other depressing thoughts are alleviated when she meets her first loves Augustus Waters, also known as Gus. Gus is an 18 year old cancer survivor with a very charming personality and extremely good looks. They fall head over heels in love with one another. They share numerous activities in a short amount of time; picnics at the park, pranks with Isaac, and a trip to Amsterdam to meet Hazel Grace’s favorite author as well as their first sexual relationship, because they know cancer will not give them much more time.
The Fault in Our Stars is full of emotion. The tracks played throughout the film add to the excitement of the plot. The song Boom Clap by Charli XCX plays whenever they are having a good time. For example, during the scene when Hazel Grace, Gus, and Isaac are throwing eggs at Isaac’s ex-girlfriend’s house, the song plays in the background and makes the scene more exciting and full of adrenaline. Ed Sheeran’s All of the Stars makes the moments Gus and Hazel Grace share a lot more intimate and romantic.
The Fault in Our Stars is definitely a must see movie. The actors as well as other elements like music, and plot were a real hit. I really enjoyed watching it and it has made its way into my list of favorite movies. I recommend it to everyone, so go get some popcorn along with some Kleenex and enjoy this heart melting film.View Movie Quotes
