legend-of-tarzan

Starring: Alexander Skarsgård, Margot Robbie, Christoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Djimon Hounsou, John Hurt

OUR RATING: ★★½

Story: Action adventure film based on the character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs, directed by David Yates. The film follows Tarzan (Alexander Skarsgård) years since he left the jungles of Africa behind for a gentrified life as John Clayton III, Lord Greystoke, with his beloved wife, Jane (Margot Robbie) at his side.

Now, he has been invited back to the Congo to serve as a trade emissary of Parliament, unaware that he is a pawn in a deadly convergence of greed and revenge, masterminded by the Belgian, Leon Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz). But those behind the murderous plot have no idea what they are about to unleash.

Verdict: If you want a great origin story for Tarzan then sadly this isn’t the movie to watch, but it still gives you some great action sequences and Alexander Skarsgard embodies Tarzan perfectly. As for the rest of the cast they all did a good job, Samuel L. Jackson looked like he was having fun with his the role, the only character I had a real problem with is Christoph Waltz, he seems to be the go-to guy lately for playing these types of characters and he’s just becoming too generic now. On a final note the movie was filled with potential but sadly wasn’t able to deliver fully mainly due to lack of depth in the story and bad pacing. The best way to enjoy this movie is really not have much expectations going into it.
