Period drama directed by Derek Cianfrance in which the story is set on a remote Australian island in the years following World War I and follows lighthouse keeper Tom Sherbourne (Michael Fassbender) and his wife, Isabel (Alicia Vikander).

The couple face a moral dilemma when a boat washes ashore with a dead man and a baby girl. Rescuing the infant, they make the decision to raise her as their own but the consequences of their choice prove to be devastating once they meet the child’s real mother, Hannah Roennfeldt (Rachel Weisz) who thought the child died at sea.
