The Woman in Black 2 is a sequel to the 2012 film starring Daniel Radcliffe. The first film was not well made or incredibly scary but it was decent. The same cannot be said for the sequel however.
The sequel is set 40 years after the original film in the Eel Marsh House during WWII London. The movie’s runtime is about an hour and a half which is time you could be spending doing better things than sitting in the theater watching this movie. The “acting” in this movie is absolutely awful. Phoebe Fox plays Eve Parkins who is our main protagonist. Her acting is far better than anyone else in this movie but not much better. Helen McCrory plays Jean Hogg who is a soulless character and really shows it through her acting. Believe me when I say I am not complementing her. Her character is an uptight bitch who has the emotions of a wall… yes people a wall; you could get better acting out of a wall.
The movie’s plot is instantly showed to be boring within the first 20-30 mins into this movie. You don’t see the woman in black until about 35 minutes into the movie and when we do see her she is on the screen for no more than 5 minutes at a time. After an hour of watching this “movie” I was almost asleep… No joke, I was pretty much out the only thing that kept me up was the occasional jump scares throughout the movie. There were a total of maybe 5-8 jump scares in the movie which did not scare me one bit but barely kept me awake.
In conclusion if you had a choice between watching this movie and going to watch ballet if I were you I’d pick the ballet.
