Starring: Travis Fimmel, Paula Patton, Ben Foster, Dominic Cooper, Toby Kebbell, Ben Schnetzer, Robert Kazinsky, Daniel Wu, Clancy Brown, Ruth Negga
OUR RATING: ★★½
Story: Fantasy Adventure directed and co-written by Duncan Jones based on the Warcraft video game series and novels set in the world of Azeroth. This is an origin story of the initial encounters between the humans and the orcs, with an emphasis upon both the Alliance’s and the Horde’s sides of their conflict.
The main characters are as Durotan (Toby Kebbell), Anduin Lothar (Travis Fimmel), King Llane Wrynn (Dominic Cooper) and Medivh (Ben Foster). The film will take place in a variety of locations established in the video game series
Verdict: The movie offers great visual effects but falls short on the story and character development. The human aspect of the story, which you would expect to have the most rounded characters and emotional story, was in fact the weakest part of this movie, whereas the Orc characters in contrast had more drama and emotion. In the end it does offer some entertaining moments and if you are a fan of the game then you should check it out, but the casual audience will probably find it lacking in depth.
