Starring: David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Tom Noonan

Story: Stop-motion adult animated comedy-drama directed by Charlie Kaufman and Duke Johnson, based on a play written by Charlie Kaufman. The movie follows Michael Stone (David Thewlis), husband, father, respected author and motivational speaker who’s own life lacks motivation as he struggles with his inability to connect to people and ultimately feels crippled by the mundanity of his life.

Then his life and world view changes after he goes on a business trip to Cincinnati and checks into the Fregoli Hotel where he is amazed to discover a possible escape from his desperation in the form of an unassuming Akron baked goods sales rep, Lisa (Jennifer Lason Leigh), who looks and sounds differently than everyone else and may or may not be the love of his life.

Verdict: Anomalisa is a thought-provoking bittersweet story that is amazing to look at, just for the stunning technical achievement, but it definitely isn’t for everyone.
