April: You’ve never heard me shout before.
Beckett: You scared me.
April: Even when we fight, we’re together, alright? Let’s make it a rule. We’re together in this. All of it.
April: I know that for every plan discarded, you think an angel loses its wings.
Beckett: Well, you did make all these plans, so I can’t complain.
April: Thank you. I appreciate you said that.
Beckett: I’m learning.
April: We’re not supposed to be here. I mean, like no one knows where we are, and it’s really just the two of us. Figures in a landscape. And Zeus had his oracle up here.
Beckett: I didn’t know it was going to be like this.
Beckett: I’m having a love attack. Currently. Save me from this love attack, please.
April: Sorry. I talk too much.
Beckett: I’m not that bad.
April: With me? No. You’ve got no problem bothering me when you don’t like what we’re watching, or what I make for dinner.
Beckett: Oh, here we go.
April: That’s your mental trick, okay? You just pretend other people are me. Just pretend it’s me, and you won’t hold back.
Officer Xenakis: Unbelievable. The accident, I mean. The house. I saw the damage. I went with the truck to pull out your car.
Beckett: Where did we crash?
Officer Xenakis: Down by the turnoff. Four kilometers away. At least there was no one in the house. Could have been worse.
Beckett: There were people in the house.
Officer Xenakis: No. Nobody has lived there for years.
Beckett: I saw someone. Two people. A woman and a boy. Teenager, maybe.
Officer Xenakis: Probably immigrants. Can you describe them?
Beckett: A boy. Red hair, maybe, or something.
Beckett: [referring to Xenakis] I don’t know what’s happening. People, they’ve been shooting at me. A policeman. Bad policeman.
Old Hunter: A bad policeman?
Beckett: [over phone] I’m up in the mountains outside of Ioannina. There’s a local police officer. No, there’s two. There’s two local police officers, and a woman. Okay? They’re trying to kill me. I don’t know why.
Beckett: [over phone] I’m a US citizen. I was vacationing with my girlfriend. We got in a car accident. She died. Then I was attacked by a stranger!
Beckett: Look, I’m not the person you want, alright? There’s been a mistake. You don’t want me.
Officer Xenakis: Now if you make a scene, I will tase you. Have you ever been tased? It’s horrible. You pi** yourself. You s**t your pants.
Beckett: [referring to Xenakis] This man’s trying to kill me!
Beckett: [over phone] I didn’t pull the trigger. I was just trying to protect myself.
Officer Majessy: You have to turn yourself in to the local police now.
Beckett: If I do that, I’ll be dead in thirty minutes, or less. You know I can’t do that.
Officer Majessy: Whatever legal assistance you require, we can provide it to you. We can answer any questions.
Beckett: How about this? How about this question? How the hell did I get into this situation?
Officer Majessy: [over phone] Listen, you just admitted to shooting a police officer.
Beckett: I need help.
Officer Majessy: The best thing you can do is go to the local authorities.
Beckett: I need help.
Officer Majessy: We can only help you after you’ve turned yourself in.
Beckett: I can’t stay here. I can’t stay here.
Beckett: [referring to the photo] This boy. Who is this boy?
Eleni: That’s Dimos, Karras’ nephew.
Beckett: Well, I’m a tourist. I don’t understand. What does that mean?
Lena: This boy was kidnapped, and he’s the nephew of a famous politician, alright?
Eleni: People need to understand what’s happening to try and bring Karras down.
Beckett: I’ve seen this boy.
Lena: You’ve seen Dimos Karras?
Beckett: In the mountains. There are cops involved.
Lena: Is that why your hands are cuffed?
Beckett: I’ve been running. My girlfriend and I were in a car accident, and we hit a house. That’s where I saw the boy, in that house. There’s been a woman and a cop. They’ve been trying to kill me ever since.
Lena: And you think these people have the boy?
Beckett: They must.
Beckett: I need your help. I need a ride to Athens. That’s where the US Embassy is. You understand? They can help me. The US Embassy in Athens.
Lena: If he’s saying the truth…
Eleni: That’s a big if.
Lena: Yes, but this could change everything, even save the boy.
Eleni: You could be full of s**t.
Eleni: You better not be lying to us about any of this.
Beckett: I’m not that creative. Believe me.
Eleni: Well, you missed out the part about shooting a cop.
Beckett: No. No, no. I didn’t shoot him. Okay, well, I didn’t mean to shoot him. He was drawing his gun on me. I was just trying to get away from him. It was only his foot.
Eleni: What a relief.
Beckett: The woman you were talking to, is she police too?
Lena: No. I had to deal with enough police in my life to know that she was something else. But she was armed.
Lena: Are we in danger?
Eleni: Are we?
Beckett: They know where I’m trying to go. They’ll be waiting. So we have to be very, very careful.
Lena: What happened to your girlfriend?
Beckett: We weren’t supposed to be on that road. We were staying at Syntagma Square. Our balcony overlooked it. Somebody told us that there was a protest coming. Then they told us it was going to be very loud. So, you know, we left.
Officer Majessy: [as Beckett makes it to the embassy] I’m Steve Majessy. We spoke on the phone. Oh. We’re going to get you cleaned up. We’re going to get you better. Don’t worry about it.
Tynan: [to Beckett] I hear you’ve been through hell.
Beckett: [looking at April’s body] I want to bring her home.
Tynan: Of course. As soon as that’s possible, given what’s happening. I’m so sorry for your loss, Beckett.
Beckett: Then I crawled out of the car, and that’s when I saw the redheaded boy. A couple days later, I went back there.
Tynan: You went back there? Why?
Beckett: To see.
Tynan: To see what?
Beckett: I didn’t know what I had to do.
Beckett: It was my fault. The accident, it was my fault. And then that’s where they found me. A woman and a cop, they started shooting at me. On sight, and I just ran. And they followed me, and they forced their way into a house that I was hiding in. And God only knows what they did to the man there that was taking care of me at the time. And they found me on a train.
Tynan: Where you shot the cop?
Beckett: They were waiting for me, there at the station. And near the embassy here.
Beckett: Then, who’s after me?
Tynan: Can you identify the cop?
Beckett: Yes, I said I can.
Tynan: Okay. Here’s what we’re going to do. I know plenty of Greek cops who won’t try to kill you. I’ll take you to one of them. You’ll fill her in on everything. I’ll vouch for you.
Beckett: Well, I really don’t want to leave the embassy.
Tynan: Look, I know you’re scared. I get it. I’m going to be with you the whole way. To the end of this.
