Crime comedy-drama directed by Spike Lee which is based on a true story and follows Ron Stallworth (John David Washington), an African-American police officer who successfully infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in 1978 Colorado Springs, Colorado.
By pretending to be a white supremacist over the phone and sending a white officer, Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver), in his place for in-person meetings, he was able to become the head of the local KKK chapter and sabotage their activities from within.REVIEWS
Man: [to Stallworth] There’s never been a black cop in this city. We think you might be the man to open things up around here.
[Stallworth sees an ad for the Ku Klux Klan and calls their information line]
Ron Stallworth: Hello, this is Ron Stallworth calling. Who am I speaking with?
David Duke: This is David Duke.
Ron Stallworth: The Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, that David Duke?
David Duke: The last time I checked. What can I do you for?
Ron Stallworth: Well, since you asked, I hate blacks, I hate Jews. Mexicans and Irish. Italians and Chinese. But my mouth to God’s ears, I really hate those black rats, and anyone else really that doesn’t have pure white Aryan blood running through their veins.
David Duke: I’m happy to be talking to a true white American.
Ron Stallworth: God bless white America.
Ron Stallworth: The KKK is planning an attack.
Chief Bridges: How do you propose to make this investigation?
Ron Stallworth: We’ll establish contact over the phone. We’ll need a white officer to play me when they meet face to face, so that it becomes combined.
Chief Bridges: Can you do that?
Ron Stallworth: With the right white man we can do anything.
Felix Kendrickson: Are you for the white race, friend?
Flip Zimmerman: Oh, hell, yeah.
Flip Zimmerman: When was the last time they let a rookie lead an investigation? Oh, that’s right. Never.
Ron Stallworth: Okay. Become his friend, let’s get invited back.
Flip Zimmerman: What kind of stuff do you guys do?
Klansman: Cross burnings, marches, this is fixing to be a big year for us.
Felix Kendrickson: [to Zimmerman] You ask too many questions. Are you undercover or something?
Felix Kendrickson: [to Zimmerman] You’re taking this Jew lie detector test.
Stokely Carmichael: We must unite and organize to fight racism!
Patrice Dumas: Are you down for the liberation of black people?
Ron Stallworth: Power to the people.
Patrice Dumas: All power to all the people.
Ron Stallworth: That’s right, sister.
Flip Zimmerman: For you it’s a crusade, for me it’s a job.
Ron Stallworth: You’re Jewish. They hate you. Doesn’t that piss you off? Why are you acting like you don’t got skin in the game?
[reading from the card]
Flip Zimmerman: Knights of the Ku Klux Klan.
Ron Stallworth: That’s us. Stallworth Brothers.
Ron Stallworth: We’re on a roll, baby.
[giving a toast at a Klan meeting]
David Duke: America first.
Klansmen: America first. America first.
[to the waiter next to him]
Waiter: If I would have known that this was a Klan meeting, I wouldn’t have taken this mother…
