Alice: How are we feeling? First day, a new school, are you nervous?

[referring to his clothes]
Alice’s Lodger #1: Did you wash these?
Alice: I did. But, um, only because I was doing a load and I’ve been up since 5:30.

Alice’s Mother: Hurry up, you guys.
[sees Isabel and Rosie]
Alice: What are you guys doing home, I thought Nana was taking you to school?
Rosie: You’re acting weird.

Isabel: Oh, my God!

Alice’s Mother: And you are?

[referring to the three young aspiring filmmakers]
Alice’s Mother: I like them. But they’re dead broke, so I thought they could stay here.
Alice: Stay here?
Alice’s Mother: Try looking at this as something that could be sort of exciting.

[to the three young aspiring filmmakers]
Alice: Okay, guys, let’s just do our best not to cramp each other’s style.
[a bag of marijuana falls out of the third young filmmaker’s pocket]
Alice’s Lodger #3: Uh, I’m just going to grab that and flush it down the toilet.

Alice’s Lodger #1: Alice, please stop avoiding me. You have to look at me.

Alice’s Ex-Husband: Alice, look at me for a second.

[typing on her computer]
Alice: “Alice is newly separated, loser…“

Alice’s Lodger #2: You seem to be handling everything really well.

Alice’s Ex-Husband: Alice doesn’t know what she wants. No clue.

Alice’s Lodger #3: You got to check yourself, everything’s going to be okay.

[to her second lodger as she sees her ex-husband who is waiting outside her house]
Alice: Oh, my God. Tell me you see him too.
[goes over to her ex]
Alice: What are you doing here?
[he hugs Alice and then points to her second lodger who’s sat in her car]

Alice: Did you tell dad about your play?
Isabel: Will you stay for it, daddy?
Alice’s Ex-Husband: When is it again?
Alice’s Lodger #2 and #3: Next Friday.

Alice’s Ex-Husband: When were you going to tell me that three strangers were living in your house.

Alice’s Lodger #1: I don’t know your ex, but he must be some kind of an idiot to let you slip through his hands.

Alice: You know I’m 40, right?
Alice’s Lodger #1: I knew that, like ballpark.

Alice’s Lodger #2: I am not in love with her, okay. I just love a lot of things about her, like her face and her personality.

Alice’s Mother: Maybe it’s fate that they met you.

Alice’s Ex-Husband: [to Alice] I miss our family, let’s fix this.

Alice: When you make a decision about your life when you’re twenty-five years-old you think, “Does that sound like a good life decision for the rest of your life?”

Alice: Goodnight.
[as she gets to the lodger that she’s slept with she awkwardly pats him on the shoulder and leaves]
