Lt. Elliott: I’m Detective Lieutenant Elliot, and this is Trooper Wagner. We just want to ask a few questions. Now we understand, the night of his demise, the family had gathered to celebrate your father’s eighty-fifth birthday. How was it, by the way?
Linda Drysdale: The party? Pre my dad’s death? Oh, it was great.
Richard Drysdale: Harlan started out with a rusty smith-corona and built himself into one of the bestselling mystery writers of all time.
[referring to Harlan’s books]
Walt Thrombey: Thirty languages. Over eighty millions copies sold. You guys fans?
Lt. Elliott: I mean I don’t do much fiction reading myself.
Trooper Wagner: A big fan. I’m a big fan.
Joni Thrombey: Who is that guy?
Lt. Elliott: Mr. Blanc is a private investigator of great renown.
Joni Thrombey: [to Blanc] I read a tweet about a New Yorker article about you. You’re famous.
Lt. Elliott: The night of his demise, the family had gathered to celebrate your father’s eighty-fifth birthday. And your son, Ransom, did he attend as well?
Linda Drysdale: Yes, but he left early.
Joni Thrombey: I think Linda was upset.
Richard Drysdale: Walt would get a little Irish courage in him, he’d get into it with Harlan.
Walt Thrombey: What? Richard said what?
Linda Drysdale: Are you baiting me, detective?
Lt. Elliott: Attempting to be thorough, so we can figure out the manner of death.
Walt Thrombey: You mean if someone killed him.
Walt Thrombey: You think one of us, one of his family..
Lt. Elliott: Well, well…
Walt Thrombey: …killed him. Is that what you’re suggesting?
Benoit Blanc: Ladies and gentleman, I would like to request that you all stay until the investigation is completed.
Linda Drysdale: What?
Joni Thrombey: Can we ask why? Has something changed?
Benoit Blanc: No.
Joni Thrombey: “No, it hasn’t changed”, or, “No, we can’t ask?”
Joni Thrombey: If I could pause. Why are we doing all this?
Alan Stevens: Did you just Google that?
Joni Thrombey: I did just Google that.
Linda Drysdale: Mr. Blanc, I just buried my father, who committed suicide. Why are you here?
Benoit Blanc: Harlan was cleaning house. Everyone, the family, has possible motives.
Benoit Blanc: Was Harlan planning on cutting off Joni?
[referring to Harlan]
Benoit Blanc: Did he plan to fire Walter?
Benoit Blanc: Is Richard having an affair?
Benoit Blanc: You all love twisting the knife into one another.
Benoit Blanc: Let’s back it up.
Ransom Drysdale: That’s some heavy-duty conjecture.
Walt Thrombey: Funny, Ransom, you skipped the funeral, but you’re early for the will reading.
Ransom Drysdale: Up your ass.
Meg Thrombey: Oh, very nice.
Ransom Drysdale: As a matter of fact, eat sh*t. How’s that?
[pointing at each family member]
Ransom Drysdale: Eat sh*t. Eat sh*t. Eat sh*t. Eat sh*t. Definitely eat sh*t.
[as the family are all shouting at him]
Ransom Drysdale: I got to do this more often.
Benoit Blanc: I suspect foul play, and I have eliminated no suspects.
Benoit Blanc: This is a twisted web, and we are not finished untangling it, not yet.
Ransom Drysdale: What is this? CSI: KFC?
Benoit Blanc: The family is truly desperate. And when people get desperate, the knives come out.
Linda Drysdale: I keep waiting for the big reveal.
Linda Drysdale: You know something. Spill it!
Ransom Drysdale: Tell me what happened to my grandfather.
Benoit Blanc: All of them lied to me.
Benoit Blanc: There is one guilty party behind it all.
Benoit Blanc: I think you have something you want to tell me.
