Starring: Liam Neeson, Lesley Manville, David Wilmot, Amit Shah
Romantic drama directed by Lisa Barros D’Sa and Glenn Leyburn. The story follows couple Joan and Tom (Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville), who have been married for many years. There is an ease to their relationship that only comes from spending a life time together and a depth of love which expresses itself through tenderness and humor in equal part. When Joan is unexpectedly diagnosed with breast cancer, the course of her treatment shines a light on their relationship as they are faced with the challenges that lie ahead and the prospect of what might happen if something were to happen to her.
[as they are grocery shopping]
Tom: We need tomato juice. I like tomato juice.
Joan: Why don’t you just eat more tomatoes?
Tom: What’s wrong with you?
Joan: Do you notice anything different about the soup?
Tom: Is this a quiz? If I get it right, do I get another bowl of soup?
Joan: I want you to get it right. That means what I did worked.
Tom: I’m going to get it wrong on purpose then.
Joan: For once in your life, can you be bloody normal?
Tom: I am normal, very normal.
[as they are driving to the hospital]
Joan: We should have left earlier. It’s only a fish.
Tom: You still have to feed it.
Joan: [playfully] Or flush it.
Tom: I’ll flush you.
Tom: [to Joan] There isn’t a moment I won’t be there with you.
[to Joan as he’s shaving her hair]
Tom: [playfully] Any particular style today, madam?
[referring to her wig]
Peter: It suits you.
Joan: No, it doesn’t.
Peter: [smiling] No, it doesn’t.
[takes off her wig]
Joan: Too hot.
[points to the teapot]
Peter: Tea cozy?
[Joan puts her wig over the teapot]
Peter: [laughs] No!
Joan: I had this feeling that, if I can get through it all would somehow change me. I don’t think it has. I don’t think I want it to.
