Forced to kill him in self-defense, rather than turn themselves in, they must go on the run.
[on their date]
Slim: Can I ask you something? What took you so long to respond to me? I sent you a very well-crafted message. Three weeks have gone, and today, out of the blue, you hit me up to ask if you want to grab dinner. What changed?
Queen: I didn’t feel like being alone. Not tonight.
Slim: So you turned to Tinder.
[on their date]
Slim: What made you pick me?
Queen: I liked your picture.
Slim: Did you?
Queen: You had this sad look on your face, I felt sorry for you.
Queen: You made a playlist? That’s cute.
Slim: Don’t go through my phone.
Slim: So what happens tonight?
Queen: You’re going to drop me off, and then you’ll go home, I guess.
Queen: Did you think we were going to have sex?
Slim: [chuckling] No. No. I thought we were going to hang out, maybe get to know each other.
Police Officer Reed: You failed to execute a turn signal back there.
Slim: Uh, my bad.
Police Officer Reed: I’m going to ask you to step out of the vehicle for me.
Slim: Can I ask why, officer?
Police Officer Reed: No, you may not.
Slim: Could you please hurry up?
Police Officer Reed: What did you say?
Slim: It’s just cold.
[pointing his gun at Slim]
Police Officer Reed: Get on the ground! Keep your hands where I can see them!
Slim: Are you serious?
Queen: Why is he under arrest?
Police Officer Reed: Get back in the car, or you’re going to jail too!
Queen: What is your badge number?
Slim: [to Queen] Just chill! Just chill!
Queen: I’m reaching for my cellphone.
[Slim suddenly wrestles with the cop, gets the gun off him and accidentally shoots him]
Queen: What do you want?
Slim: I’m tired of playing it safe. I want to ride or die.
Protestor: I support what y’all doing.
Slim: It was self-defense.
Protestor: Power to the people.
Queen: There is nothing back there for us.
[to Slim and Queen]
Uncle Earl: Ooh, well, if ain’t the black Bonnie and Clyde.
Uncle Earl: How are you going to outrun the police?
Queen: We don’t have to outrun them. We just have to make sure they don’t know where we are. We’re going to hide in plain site.
Man: This here is Kentucky, my friend.
Woman: There’s a war going on out there, and you welcome this into our home?
Slim: I ain’t going to bend the world. As long as my lady remembers me fondly, that’s all I need.
Driver: You all really gave us something to believe in. We needed that for real.
Queen: All we can do is go forward. There is nothing back there for us. Let’s just keep going.
Slim: What if God wanted me to die and I messed up his plan?
Queen: I don’t think that’s what he wanted.
Slim: How do you know?
Queen: I just think you were meant to be here.
Queen: I’m scared.
Slim: It’s alright. I’ll be brave enough for the both of us.
Slim: I’m taking you dancing. Let’s go.
Queen: You’re willing to risk getting caught so we can dance?
Slim: Hell, yeah.
[on the phone]
Slim: I just wanted to let you know that I’m okay, and that I love you.
Queen: I want a guy to show me myself. I want him to love me so deeply, I’m not afraid to show him how ugly I can be.
Queen: [to Slim] Thank you for bringing us this far. Thank you for this journey, no matter how it ends.
Queen: Can I be your legacy?
Slim: You already are.
Slim: I think everything is destined.
