Voice: Do you hear the ticking? The ticking.
Jonathan Barnavelt: Lewis, I’m your uncle Jonathan.
Lewis Barnavelt: Are you wearing a robe?
Jonathan Barnavelt: It’s a kimono.
Jonathan Barnavelt: [to Lewis] Here we are, home sweet home.
Mrs. Zimmerman: Hello. You’re Lewis I presume. How was your trip?
Jonathan Barnavelt: This old hag is my neighbor.
Mrs. Zimmerman: I’m relieved to see you didn’t your uncle’s freakishly oversized head.
Jonathan Barnavelt: My God, did that withered purple skeleton just speak?
Jonathan Barnavelt: [to Lewis] You’ll see, things are quite different here.
Mrs. Zimmerman: [to Lewis] The house is a very old place.
Jonathan Barnavelt: Have a look around. You’re perfectly safe.
[just then a monster with tentacle opens a door, Jonathan quickly closes the door]
Lewis Barnavelt: That’s safe?
Jonathan Barnavelt: As long as it’s fed.
Jonathan Barnavelt: Do you know what a warlock is, Lewis?
Lewis Barnavelt: A boy witch.
Jonathan Barnavelt: I think they’re a little more than boy witches.
Lewis Barnavelt: Are you saying that you’re a warlock?
Lewis Barnavelt: Please teach me! Please, please!
Jonathan Barnavelt: Okay. Have it your way.
Jonathan Barnavelt: [to Lewis] I can give you the right books, teach you the right spells, but that last one for Sam, that’s up to you.
[referring to Lewis as they are picking out kids join their basketball team]
Schoolkid #1: I don’t want the creepy little runt.
Schoolkid #2: You think I want him?
[Lewis throws the ball, uses his magic power to make the ball hit the two boys in the face and then go through the basketball hoop]
Lewis Barnavelt: Lucky shot.
Mrs. Zimmerman: So, you told Lewis everything?
Jonathan Barnavelt: Well, not everything.
Jonathan Barnavelt: This house used to be owned by another warlock.
Mrs. Zimmerman: He’s very wicked, very powerful.
Jonathan Barnavelt: He left a hidden clock in the walls. We don’t know what it does, except something horrible.
[referring to the clock]
Jonathan Barnavelt: Three gongs. Last time it was four. What happens when it gets down to one?
Mrs. Zimmerman: Nothing good, that’s for certain.
Jonathan Barnavelt: We have to destroy the clock.
Jonathan Barnavelt: So creepy.
Lewis Barnavelt: You can’t do this alone. I can help you! You want to see some real magic, I’ll show you.
[as they about to fight with some live Halloween pumpkins]
Jonathan Barnavelt: Shall we?
Mrs. Zimmerman: God, I hate pumpkins.
