[first lines; New York – mutants and the humans have been gathered by an army of robots to be killed]
Professor X: [voice over] The future, a dark, desolate world. A world of war, suffering, loss on both sides. Mutants and the humans who dared to help them, fighting an enemy we cannot defeat.
[a young mutant is seen walking through piles of dirt and carcasses]
Professor X: [voice over] Are we destined down this path? Destined to destroy ourselves like so many species before us? Or can we evolve fast enough to change ourselves, change our fate?
[the mutant kneels down and brushes off some dirt on the ground from an object with the Mutant Academy’s X on it, suddenly there’s a low rumbling noise, as the mutant turns to see what it is a light is flashed across the mutant’s face]
Professor X: [voice over] Is the future truly set?

[in Moscow a mutant, Warpath, spots several pods carrying robots dropping them near the building they’re ransacking]
Warpath: They’re here!
[he joins another mutant, Blink, using her powers she opens a portal to transport them to the lower level to warn their fellow mutants, Colossus, Sunspot, Bishop and Kitty Pryde]
Blink: Time’s up!
Warpath: Sentinels!
Bishop: Sunspot!
[Sunspot uses his power to create solar power energy which Bishop uses with his powers to absorb and power up his weapon]
Kitty Pryde: Let’s go!
[Bishop and Kitty start running and Kitty uses her power so that she and Bishop can phases through walls as the others wait to fight the Sentinels, when they arrive the team of mutants begin to fight the Sentinels, Bobby/Iceman also arrives to join them, but the Sentinels kill them all by latching onto the mutants to adapt to their powers, copying them and use their powers against them]

[Kitty takes Bishop into a vault and starts to create a link with his consciousness, at the same time Blink goes to help Warpath fight the Sentinels when one of them strikes her down]
Warpath: Blink! No!
[she falls and dies, the remaining Sentinels quickly kill Warpath as he tries to protect the vault, one of the Sentinels breaks into the vault]
Kitty Pryde: Too late, assholes.
[just as the Sentinel is about to kill Bishop and Kitty they disappear as they are transported out of there]

[Professor X is using his powers to find other mutants]
Professor X: [voice over] So few of us left.
Kitty Pryde: Professor?
Professor X: I found them.
[an X-Jet descends in China to where Professor X, Storm, Logan and Magneto dismount at a monastery, they are met by Bishop, Sunspot and Warpath, who are both alive]
Warpath: Professor?
[then we see Bobby, who is also alive]
Storm: Bobby!
Bobby: Hi, Storm.
[they embrace]
Logan: Hey, kid.
[Bobby nods his head to Logan]
Kitty Pryde: Professor, you made it.
[she joins them along with Colossus, who is also alive]

Kitty Pryde: Whenever the Sentinels attack, Warpath spots them, then I send Bishop back to warn us of the attack before it happens. Blink scouts the next site and, well, then we leave before they ever know we were there.
Warpath: Because we never were.
Logan: What do you mean you were never there?
Professor X: She projects Bishop back in time a few days to warn the others of the coming attack.
Logan: So she sends Bishop back in time.
Professor X: No, just his consciousness into his younger self, his younger body.
Logan: Well.
Magneto: This might just work, Charles.
Kitty Pryde: What might work?
Professor X: The Sentinel Program was originally conceived by Dr. Bolivar Trask. In the early 70’s he was one of the world’s leading weapons designers, but covertly he had begun experimenting on mutants, using their gifts to fuel his own research. There was one mutant who had discovered what he was doing.
Magneto: A mutant with the ability to transform herself into anyone.
Colossus: Mystique.

Professor X: I knew her as Raven. We met when we were children, grew up together. She was like a sister to me. I tried to help her but only succeeded in driving her away. She hunted Trask across the world, and at the Paris Peace Accords in 1973, after the Vietnam war she found Trask and killed him. It was the first time she killed.
Logan: It wasn’t her last.
Professor X: But killing Trask did not have the outcome she expected. It only persuaded the government of the need for his program. They captured her that day, tortured her, experimented on her. In her DNA they discovered the secrets to her powers of transformation. It gave them the key they needed to create weapons that could adapt to any mutant power, and in less than fifty years, the machines that have destroyed so many of our kind were created. But it all started that day in 1973. The day she first killed, the day she truly became Mystique.
Kitty Pryde: You want to go back there?
Professor X: If I can get to her, stop the assassination, keep her out of their hands, then we can stop the Sentinels from ever being born.
Magneto: And end this war before it ever begins.
Kitty Pryde: I can send someone back a couple of weeks, maybe a month, but you’re talking about going back decades. You have the most powerful brain in the world, Professor, but the mind can only stretch so far before it snaps. It would rip you apart. I’m sorry, no one could survive that trip.
Logan: What if someone’s mind has a way of snapping back? What if someone can heal as fast as it ripped apart?

[outside the monastery as they prepare to protect Logan as he goes back in time]
Storm: Okay, spread out.
Bishop: Take your positions.
[inside the monastery Logan speaks alone with Professor X and Magneto]
Logan: So I wake up in my younger body, God knows where, then what?
Professor X: You’ll need to go to my house and find me, convince me of all of this.
Logan: Won’t you be able to just read my mind?
Professor X: I didn’t have my powers in 1973. Logan, you’re going to have to do for me what I once did for you. Lead me, guide me. I was a very different man then. You’ll have to be patient with me.
Logan: Patience isn’t my strongest suit.
Magneto: You’ll need me as well.
Logan: What?
Magneto: After mystique left Charles she came with me and I set her on a dangerous path, a darker path. It’s going to take the two of us, side by side at a time when we couldn’t be further apart.
[Logan looks at Professor X and he nods in agreement]
Logan: Great. So where do I find you?
Magneto: Well, it’s complicated.

[Logan is lying down as Kitty prepares him]
Kitty Pryde: Basically your body will go to sleep while your mind travels back in time. As long as you’re back there, past and present will continue to coexist. But once you wake up, whatever you’ve done will take hold and become history. And for the rest of us it’ll be the only history that we know. It’ll be like the last fifty years never happened, in this world, in this war. The only person who will remember it is you. Alright, Logan, I need to you clear head and to stay as calm as possible.
Logan: What? What do you mean?
Kitty Pryde: If your mind gets rocky it’ll be harder for me to hold you. You could start to slip between past and future.
Logan: What if I need to get a little rocky?
Kitty Pryde: Think peaceful thoughts.
Logan: Peaceful thoughts. You have any good news?
Kitty Pryde: Well, you don’t really age so you’ll pretty much look the same.

Bobby: You won’t have much time in the past, the Sentinels will find us. They always do.
Kitty Pryde: And this time we won’t be able to run, we’ll have no escape. This is our last chance.
Magneto: Do you really think this will work?
Professor X: I have faith in him.
Magneto: It’s not him I’m worried about, it’s us, we were young. We didn’t know any better.
Professor X: We will now.
Logan: As you always do.
[to Logan]
Kitty Pryde: This might sting a little.
[as Kitty forms the link to Logan’s consciousness he yells out in pain and his claws extend]

[Logan wakes up in 1973 and the first thing he sees is a lava lamp, he finds himself lying naked in a waterbed next to a woman, he rises and goes to look at himself in the mirror, then looks out the window to see a busy city in 70’s]
Logan: Holy shit. It worked.
[as he puts on his trousers three men barge into the room]
Logan: Hey, what’s going on? Who are you?
[to the woman in bed who’s now awake]
Ramone: Gwen, get dressed.
Logan: Hey, I don’t know what’s going on.
Ramone: What’s going on is that you’re supposed to be guarding the boss’ daughter, not screwing her.
Logan: I didn’t sleep with her.
Ramone: No?
Logan: No. I mean, yes, I slept with her many times, but…
Gwen: Jimmy!
Logan: That wasn’t me, that was the old me. I just got here like twenty seconds ago.
Ramone: Really?
Logan: Yeah.
Ramone: And what happened to your clothes?
Logan: Well, oh. Would you believe me if I told you I was sent here from the future?
[Ramone chuckles]

[to Gwen]
Ramone: Get out of here, sweetheart.
Logan: Yeah.
Ramone: We’re going to take care of this comedian.
[Gwen quickly finishes getting dressed and leaves]
Logan: No, you’re not. You’re going to give me the keys to your car and some money for gas or you’re going to wake up in the hospital. Trust me, I know how these things play out.
Ramone: Oh, because you’re from the future.
Logan: No, because of these.
[he holds up his hands and extends his claws, which are no longer covered in adamantium]
Ramone: What the hell?!
[Ramone and the other two guys reach for their guns and start shooting at Logan who’s claws accidently pierce the water bed]
Logan: Goddammit!
[the three men watch in shock as the bullets in Logan’s chest push out and he heals, Logan then kills all three men and takes the car keys off of Ramone]
Logan: Peaceful thoughts.

[in Washington D.C., Trask is meeting with Congress to lobby his Sentinel program]
Senator Brickman: We are reviewing all of our defense expenditures and all the black books are being opened. We can’t support a weapon that targets our own citizens. If these mutants, as you described, are already living among us, then they are living here peacefully.
Congressman Parker: We haven’t had an incident in over ten years.
Congressman Davis: After what happened in Cuba?
Congressman Parker: That was never confirmed. We have real enemies out there, the Russians, the Chinese.
Senator Brickman: We are talking about a tenth of a tenth of a tenth of our population.
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Allow me to read something to you.
Senator Brickman: Please.
Dr. Bolivar Trask: This was acquired by our friends at the CIA. It’s a dissertation written by a mutant at Oxford university. And I quote, “To Homo-Neanderthals’, his mutant cousin Homosapiens, which is us, was an aberration. The arrival of the mutated human species, Homosapiens, was followed by the immediate extinction of their less evolved kin.”

[to the Congress]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Well, now we are the Neanderthal.
Senator Brickman: Speak for yourself, Dr. Trask.
[there’s a low chuckle by Trask and some of the congressmen]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: You know, when you sent our soldiers to Vietnam without the weapons they needed to win the war, you underestimated your enemy. You do that with this enemy, it won’t be some border skirmish halfway around the world. This time the war will be for our streets, our cities, our homes, and by the time you see the need for my program, it’ll be too late and you will have lost two wars in one lifetime.
Senator Brickman: We’re sorry, Dr. Trask. But your Sentinel program, it ain’t going to fly.

[Saigon – Colonel Sanders arrives at a quarantined tent guarded by MP’s]
Vietnam MP Guard: Can I help you, Colonel?
Col. Sanders: Just here to give our boys a proper send off.
Vietnam MP Guard: Sorry, sir, but we have orders. This is a quarantined area.
Col. Sanders: Stand aside, soldier. That’s an order.
[the guards stand aside and open the doors to let Sanders through to the tent]
Soldier: Atten-hut!
[the soldiers all rise]
Col. Sanders: At ease.
[as Sanders walks through the tent he looks at the mutant soldiers, he notices Alex Summers/Havok and winks at him, Alex looks at him with confusion, Strand goes over the doctor who’s collecting blood samples]
Col. Sanders: What is all this?
Quarantine Doctor: Lab reports, blood tests. It’s all getting packed up and shipped back.
Col. Sanders: Where is it going?
Quarantine Doctor: Same place they are, Trask Industries.

[Major William Stryker enters the tent]
Major William Stryker: Let’s go, gentlemen! Taking you out of this shit show.
Alex Summers: Shipping home?
Major William Stryker: Not just yet.
[another solider opens a case containing vials of drugs]
Toad: What are you doing with those?
Major William Stryker: It’s going to make the ride a little smoother. We’re transferring you to a private facility where we can run a few more tests.
[as the soldier prepares the injection Sanders walks over to Stryker]
Col. Sanders: Your men are not military.
Major William Stryker: Private outfit.

[Stryker gives Sanders his paperwork]
Major William Stryker: We’re authorized to remand these men.
[Sanders looks at the papers]
Col. Sanders: These troops are going home.
Major William Stryker: Well, Colonel, I don’t believe you have jurisdiction in this matter.
Col. Sanders: I’m afraid I do, son.
Major William Stryker: I’m sorry, who are you?
Col. Sanders: The question is, Major…
[Sanders turns Stryker’s dog tags around to look at his name]
Col. Sanders: Who are you?
[suddenly Sanders turns into Raven, she and the other mutants take down the soldiers]

[as Stryker goes to grab his gun, Raven grabs hold of his throat and nearly strangles him]
Alex Summers: Raven!
Raven: That’s not my name.
[before Raven kills Stryker Alex uses his power to release a plasma blast at Stryker who gets knocked out]
Raven: I had that.
Alex Summers: I know.
Raven: Let’s move out! Come on, let’s go!
Alex Summers: Where’s Erik?
Raven: I’m on my own now.
[as they walk out of the tent Raven has disguised herself by turning into Sanders again]

[Raven disguised as Sanders guides the mutant soldiers towards a plane which is about to take off]
Col. Sanders: Hold that plane!
[to the soldiers boarding the plane]
Soldier: Let’s Go! Keep going!
Col. Sanders: Wouldn’t want to leave these boys in this God forsaken country.
Alex Summers: You’re not coming with us are you?
Col. Sanders: My war’s not over, the enemy is still out there.
[as Alex boards the plane, Sanders starts walking away and then transforms into Raven dressed in military clothes, at the same time Stryker walks out of the tent to look for them]
Major William Stryker: Where did they go?
[to the MP guards]
Major William Stryker: The four privates, where did they go?
Vietnam MP Guard: They were headed towards the tarmac.
[Stryker heads towards the tarmac and watches in frustration as the plane takes off]

[Wolverine arrives at the X-Mansion which looks abandoned and run down, he notices the sign for Xavier School fallen on the ground, he drives to the front door, gets out of his car and knocks on the front door which is opened by Hank McCoy / Beast]
Hank McCoy: Can I help you?
Logan: Uh, yeah. What happened to the school?
Hank McCoy: The school’s been shut for years. Are you a parent?
Logan: Sure as hell hope not. Who are you?
Hank McCoy: I’m Hank, Hank McCoy. I look after the house now.
Logan: You’re Beast? Look at you. Well, I guess you’re a late bloomer.
Hank McCoy: I don’t know what you’re talking about. I’m going to have to ask you to leave.

[as Hank goes to shut the door Logan stops him and pushes against the door]
Logan: So where’s the Professor?
Hank McCoy: There’s no Professor here.
[as Logan keeps pushing against the door and Hank pushes back to close it]
Logan: You’re pretty strong for a scrawny kid. Are you sure there’s not a little Beast in there? Come on, Beast.
Hank McCoy: He’s not here.
Logan: Come on, Beastie.
Hank McCoy: No.
[Logan finally manages to push through the door and enter the house]

[as Logan pushes past Hank and enters X-Mansion]
Hank McCoy: Hey! I said this school’s closed, you need to leave.
Logan: Not until I see the Professor.
[Hank grabs Logan by his shoulder and turns him round]
Hank McCoy: There’s no Professor here, I told you that!
Logan: Look, kid, you and I are going to be good friends.
[suddenly Logan punches Hank in the face making him fall to the ground]
Logan: You just don’t know it yet.
[Hank watches in pain as Logan goes to search for the Professor]
Logan: Professor!
[looking angry, Hank turns into his Beast form]

[Logan walks through a corridor]
Logan: Professor!
[suddenly Hank in his Beat form attacks Logan and throws him down the stairs, he hangs on the chandelier ready to strike Logan when they are interrupted by young Charles Xavier]
Charles Xavier: Hank, what’s going on here?
[Logan watches as Charles walks down the stairs, wearing his dressing gown and looking disheveled]
Logan: Professor?
Charles Xavier: Please don’t call me that.
Hank McCoy: You know this guy?
Charles Xavier: Yeah, he looks slightly familiar. Get off the bloody chandelier, Hank!

[Hank dismounts from the chandelier]
Logan: You can walk?
Charles Xavier: You’re a perceptive one.
Logan: I thought Erik…
Charles Xavier: Which makes it slightly perplexing that you managed to miss our sign on the way in. This is a private property my friend, I’m going to ask him to ask you to leave.
Logan: Well, I’m afraid I can’t do that because, uh, because I was sent here for you.
Charles Xavier: Well, tell whoever it was that sent you that I’m busy.
Logan: That’s going to be a little tricky because the person who sent me was you.
Charles Xavier: What?
Logan: About fifty years from now.
Charles Xavier: Fifty years from now, like in the future fifty years from now?
Logan: Yeah.
Charles Xavier: I sent you from the future?
Logan: Yeah.
Charles Xavier: Piss off!

Logan: If you had your powers you’d know I was telling the truth.
Charles Xavier: How do you know I don’t have my…? Who are you?
Logan: I told you.
Charles Xavier: Are you CIA?
Logan: No.
Charles Xavier: You been watching me?
Logan: I know you, Charles. We’ve been friends for years. I know your powers came when you were nine. I know you thought you were going crazy when it started, all the voices in your head. And it wasn’t until you were twelve that you realized all the voices were in everyone else’s head. Do you want me to go on?
[Charles looks confused and shocked]
Charles Xavier: I never told anyone that.
Logan: Not yet, no, but, you will.

Charles Xavier: Alright, you’ve piqued my interest. What do you want?
Logan: We have to stop Raven. I need your help. We need your help.
Charles Xavier: I think I’d like to wake up now.
[Charles walks turns and walks into the next room]
Hank McCoy: What does she have to do with this?
[Logan watches as Hank turns back into his human form]

Charles Xavier: So you’re saying that they took Raven’s power and what, they weaponized it?
Logan: Yep.
Hank McCoy: I mean, she is unique.
Charles Xavier: Yeah, she is, Hank.
Logan: In the beginning the Sentinels were just targeting mutants, then they began to identify the genetics in non-mutants who’d eventually have mutant children or grandchildren. Many of the humans tried to help us, it was a slaughter. Leaving only the worst of humanity in charge. I’ve been in a lot of wars, I’ve never seen anything like this. And it all starts with her.
Charles Xavier: Well, let’s just say that for the sake of, the sake that I choose to believe you, that I choose to help you, Raven won’t listen to me. No her heart and soul belongs to someone else now.
Logan: I know. That’s why we’re going to need Magneto too.
Hank McCoy: Erik?
[Charles laughs]
Hank McCoy: You do know where he is?
Logan: Yeah.
[Charles laughs harder then starts to walk out of the room]
Charles Xavier: He’s where he belongs.
Logan: That’s it, you’re just going to walk out?
Charles Xavier: Ooh, top marks. Like I said, you are perceptive.

Logan: The Professor I know would never turn his back on someone who lost their path, especially someone he loved.
Charles Xavier: You know, I think I do remember you now. Yeah, we came to you a long time ago seeking your help. And I’m going to say to you what you said to us then. Fuck off!
[Logan angrily grabs hold of Charles]
Logan: Listen to me you, little shit! I’ve come a long way, and I’ve watched a lot of people die, good people, friends. If you want to wallow in self-pity and do nothing, then you’re going to watch the same thing, you understand?
[Logan let’s go of Charles]
Charles Xavier: We all have to die some time.
[Charles turns and walks off and goes back up stairs to his room]

Hank McCoy: Told you there was no Professor here.
Logan: What the hell happened to him?
Hank McCoy: He lost everything. You know, Erik, Raven and his legs. We built the school, the labs, this whole place, then just after the first semester the war in Vietnam got worse. Many of the teachers and all the students were drafted, and it broke him. He retreated into himself. I wanted to help, do something, so I designed a serum to treat his spine. You know, derived from the same formula that helps me control my mutation. I take just enough to keep myself balanced, but he takes too much. I tried easing him back, but he just couldn’t bear the pain, the voices. The treatment gives him his legs, but it’s not enough. He’s just lost too much.

[in his room, after he’s taken another shot of Hank’s serum, Charles has flashback to when he first met Raven when they were children]
Young Raven: You’re not scared of me?
Young Charles Xavier: I always believed I couldn’t be the only one in the world. Charles Xavier.
Young Raven: Raven.
Young Charles Xavier: You’re hungry and alone. Take whatever you want. We’ve got lots of food, you don’t have to steal. In fact, you never have to steal again. And that’s a promise.

[Charles joins Hank and Logan again]
Charles Xavier: I’ll help you get her. Not for any of your future shite but for her.
Logan: Fair enough.
Charles Xavier: Tell you this, you don’t know Erik. That man is a monster, a murderer. You think you can convince Raven to change, to come home? That’s splendid. But what makes you think you can change him?
Logan: Because you and Erik sent me back here together.

Hank McCoy: The room they’re holding him in was built during the second World War when there was a shortage of steel. So the foundation is pure concrete and sand, no metal.
Charles Xavier: He’s being held a hundred floors beneath the most heavily guarded building on the planet.
[we see Erik being held in a prison cell beneath the Pentagon]
Logan: Why is he in there?
Charles Xavier: What, he forgot to mention?
[Charles laughs]
Hank McCoy: Uh, JFK.
Logan: He killed…?
Charles Xavier: What else would explains a bullet miraculously curving through the air? Erik’s always had a way with guns. You sure you want to carry on with this?
Logan: Well, this is your plan not mine.
Hank McCoy: We don’t have any resources to get us in.
Charles Xavier: Or out. It’s just me and Hank.
Logan: I know a guy. Yeah, he’d be a young man now, grew up outside of D.C. He could get into anywhere, just don’t know how the hell we’re going to find him.
[Hank looks at Charles]
Hank McCoy: I guess Cerebro’s out of the question.
[Charles looks down]
Hank McCoy: We have a phone book.

[in the evening at Trask Industries Trask walks through to get to his office]
Trask’s Secretary: I thought you’d be getting ready for your trip, sir?
Dr. Bolivar Trask: I just came to grab a couple of files. Is that a new scarf? It’s nice.
Trask’s Secretary: Thank you.
[as Trask walks up the stairs we see him transform in to Raven, she starts looking through his desk drawers but finds nothing, she notices a large painting of Trask behind his desk and finds a hidden safe under it, she manages to gain access and enters to find his personal files, including blueprints for the Sentinels, as well as autopsy reports on the mutants he’s experimented on including her former friends Azazel and Angel Salvadore, as tears roll down her face Trask’s secretary suddenly comes into Trask’s office]
Trask’s Secretary: Dr. Trask?
[speaking in Trask’s voice]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: One second.

[Raven now transformed into Trask again steps out of the safe]
Trask’s Secretary: We added some names to the Paris meeting.
[she hands him a piece of paper]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Thank you.
[she looks at Trask and notices the tear rolling down his face]
Trask’s Secretary: Is something wrong, sir?
Dr. Bolivar Trask: No, it’s nothing.
[Trask quickly wipes the tear from his face]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Would you mind taping up my itinerary? I don’t want to miss anything.
[his secretary nods her head, turns and walks off]

[Logan, Charles and Hank drive up to Peter Maximoff/Quicksilver’s home, a mutant with superhuman speed]
Logan: Here, here, here.
Charles Xavier: Where?
Logan: Just up here. Just up here!
Charles Xavier: Alright, alright, alright!
Logan: Next time I’m driving, alright? Don’t get used to it.
[they get of the car and walk over to the front door, Logan knocks on the door and his mother answers the door]
Mrs. Maximoff: What has he done now? I’ll just write you a check for whatever he took.
Logan: We just need talk to him.
[she lets them enter]
Mrs. Maximoff: Peter! The cops are here, again!
[the three walk down to the basement where Peter is playing table tennis with himself using his powers of speed]
Peter Maximoff: What do you guys want? I didn’t do anything.
[suddenly he sits down on the couch]
Peter Maximoff: I’ve been here all day.

Logan: Just relax Peter, we’re not cops.
Peter Maximoff: Of course you’re not cops, if you were cops you wouldn’t drive a rental car.
Charles Xavier: How did you know we got a rental car?
Peter Maximoff: I checked your registration when you were walking through the door. I also had some time to kill so I went through your rental agreements. Saw you were from out of town, are you FBI?
[using his power he quickly swipes Charles’ wallet and looks at Charles’ card]
Peter Maximoff: Hey, what’s up with this sketchy face?
[he drops the card and wallet to the floor]
Charles Xavier: That’s an old card.
Hank McCoy: Well, he’s fascinating.
Charles Xavier: He’s a pain in the ass.
[to Logan]
Hank McCoy: What, a teleporter?
Logan: No, he’s just fast. But when I knew him, he wasn’t so young.
Peter Maximoff: Young? You’re just old.

Hank McCoy: So you’re not afraid to show your powers?
Peter Maximoff: Powers? What powers? What are you talking about? Did you see something strange here? Nothing anybody would believe you if you told them.
[using his power he quickly goes over to the arcade game and starts playing]
Peter Maximoff: So who are you and what do you want?
Logan: We need your help, Peter.
Peter Maximoff: With what?
Logan: Break into a highly secured facility and to get someone out.
Peter Maximoff: Prison break? That’s illegal, you know.
Logan: Uh…
[the three look around the room and notice all the stuff that Pete’s obviously stolen]
Logan: Well, only if you get caught.

Peter Maximoff: So what’s in it for me?
Charles Xavier: You, you kleptomaniac, get to break into the Pentagon.
[this peaks his interest, he stops playing and turns to them]
Peter Maximoff: How do I know I can trust you?
Logan: Because we’re just like you.
Charles Xavier: Show him.
[Logan raises one hand and extends his claws]
Peter Maximoff: It’s cool, but it’s disgusting.

[Logan, Charles and Hank enter the Pentagon under the guise of tourists receiving a tour guide]
Pentagon Tour Guide: Built in 1943, the Pentagon is the world’s largest office building, housing more than twenty-five thousand military employees stretched over six million square feet.
Young Boy: Where’s the bathroom?
Young Girl: He needs to pee!
Pentagon Tour Guide: Well, luck for you, you’ll have plenty to choose from. The building was constructed during the segregation, so…
[Logan and Charles quickly slip away from the tour guide as they reach some stairs, Hank uses a radio monitor to interfere with their signal, then as one of the guards is about to take a tray of food to Erik enters an elevator, Peter slips passed him, taps his hat off and as the guard turn he sees Peter getting a duct tape out, when the elevator doors open, Peter steps out dressed in the guards uniform and carrying the tray of food, the guard has been duct taped to the elevator wall]

[in the surveillance room the TV monitors are all broadcasting regular TV]
Surveillance Guard #1: Yeah, we’re getting broadcast signal down here. What’s going on?
Surveillance Guard #2: Dammit. Call maintenance, get them down here!
[Peter manages to get to the cell Erik is being held in and slides the tray of food with a note “Mind The Glass” stuck onto it into the cell then uses his power to shatters the glass and Erik climbs out ]
Erik Lehnsherr: In three seconds those doors are going to open and twenty guards will be here to shoot us.
[Peter comes up behind Erik and holds his neck]
Peter Maximoff: I know, that’s what I’m waiting for.
Erik Lehnsherr: What are you doing?
Peter Maximoff: I’m holding your neck so you don’t get whiplash.
Erik Lehnsherr: What?
Peter Maximoff: Whip-lash.
[just then guards show up pointing their guns at them]
Pentagon Elevator Guard: Don’t move!
[holding onto Erik, Peter quickly slips passed them into the elevator, Erik looking like he’s going to be sick to look at Peter who’s now changed back into his own clothes]
Peter Maximoff: You’re good, it’ll pass. It happens with everyone.

Peter Maximoff: Must have done something pretty serious. What’d you do, man? What’d you do? What’d you do? Why did they have you in there?
Erik Lehnsherr: For killing the president.
Peter Maximoff: Oh.
[in awe Peter turns to the guard that’s still duct taped to the wall and mouths the word “shit”]
Erik Lehnsherr: The only thing I’m guilty of is fighting for people like us.
Peter Maximoff: You take karate? You know karate, man?
Erik Lehnsherr: I don’t know karate, but I know crazy.
[Peter laughs]

[Logan and Charles enter the Pentagon kitchens in which Hank has set off the fire alarm water sprinkler]
Charles Xavier: Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, this is a code red situation. We are evacuating the entire floor so that we, my, uh, associate and I can, uh, secure the prisoner.
[two guards walk over to them]
Kitchen Guard: Who are you?
Charles Xavier: We are special operations CBFECIC. Look, perhaps you didn’t hear me when first I spoke, that it’s imperative that you understand we are in complete lockdown situation. We have to get you into the third floor…
[Logan looking frustrated quickly takes down the two guards and then turns to Charles]
Logan: Oh, I’m sorry, are you finished?
[Charles takes the guards key]

[back in the elevator with Peter and Erik]
Peter Maximoff: They told me you control metal.
Erik Lehnsherr: They?
Peter Maximoff: You know, my mom once knew a guy who could do that.
[suddenly a thought comes across Erik’s mind; back to Logan and Charles who is using the guard’s key to open the elevator doors]
Charles Xavier: Sorry, I’m just not very good with violence.
[just then the elevator doors open and Erik and Charles come face to face]
Erik Lehnsherr: Charles?

[Charles punches Erik in the face with anger]
Erik Lehnsherr: Good to see you too, old friend, and walking.
Charles Xavier: No thanks to you.
Erik Lehnsherr: You’re the last person in the world I expected to see today.
Charles Xavier: Believe me, I wouldn’t be here if I didn’t have to. If we get you out of here, we do it my way, no killing.
Erik Lehnsherr: No helmet. I couldn’t disobey you even if I wanted.
Charles Xavier: I’m never getting inside of that head again. I need your word, Erik.
[Erik nods his head]

[before they can leave they are suddenly cornered by six guards in the kitchen, all aiming their guns at them]
Armed Kitchen Guard: Nobody move! Hold it right there!
Erik Lehnsherr: Charles.
Armed Kitchen Guard: Don’t move! Hands up or we will shoot!
Erik Lehnsherr: Freeze them, Charles!
Charles Xavier: I can’t.
Armed Kitchen Guard: Hands up!
[Erik uses his power to manipulate the metal objects in the room and the guards start to shoot their guns]
Charles Xavier: No!
[just as Charles tries to stop Erik suddenly everything goes into slow motion as Peter puts on his headphones to listen to some music and runs through the whole kitchen, positioning the guards so they are either hitting each other or themselves and then moving the bullets away from the other three, once he’s finished we see the guards knocking themselves out and the bullets missing Charles, Erik and Logan; to Peter as they leave the kitchen]
Logan: Thanks, kid.

[as Charles, Erik, Logan and Hank are about to board a jet]
Charles Xavier: Peter, thank you very, very much. You take care.
[they shake hands]
Peter Maximoff: Hey, I saw your flight plan in the cockpit. Why are you going to Paris?
[inside the jet Erik goes to take the newspaper in front of Logan when Logan uses his claws to hold onto the paper]
Erik Lehnsherr: Imagine if they were metal.
[as Charles and Hank go to board the jet Charles throws Peter the car keys]
Charles Xavier: Do me a favor and return it for me?
Peter Maximoff: Okay.
Charles Xavier: And Peter, take it slow.
[Peter laughs; to Logan]
Erik Lehnsherr: Where did they dig you up?
Logan: You’re going to find this hard to believe, but, uh, you sent me. You and Charles, from the future.
[Erik gives him a confused look]

[during the flight the silent tension is thick inside the plane with Charles staring coldly at Erik]
Erik Lehnsherr: How did you lose them?
Charles Xavier: The treatment for my spine effects my DNA.
Erik Lehnsherr: You sacrificed your power so you could walk?
Charles Xavier: I sacrificed my power so that I could slee… What do you know about it?
Erik Lehnsherr: I’ve lost my fair share.
Charles Xavier: Huh. Dry your eyes, Erik. Doesn’t justify what you’ve done.
Erik Lehnsherr: You have no idea what I’ve done.
Charles Xavier: I know that you took the things that mean the most to me.
Erik Lehnsherr: Well maybe you should have fought harder for them.
Charles Xavier: If you want to fight, Erik…
[Charles and Erik rise from their seats]
Logan: Sit down!
Charles Xavier: I will give you a fight!
Erik Lehnsherr: Let him come!

[in anger Charles grabs hold of Erik by the front of his shirt]
Charles Xavier: You abandoned me! You took her away and you abandoned me!
Erik Lehnsherr: Angel, Azazel, Emma, Banshee. Mutant brothers and sisters, all dead!
[Erik’s anger almost causes the jet to decompress and it starts to fall]
Erik Lehnsherr: Countless others, experimented on, butchered!
Charles Xavier: Erik!
Erik Lehnsherr: Where were you, Charles? We were supposed to protect them! Where were you when your own people needed you? Hiding! You and Hank, pretending to be something you’re not!
[Hank, who’s piloting the jet, tries desperately to stop the jet from crashing into the ocean]
Hank McCoy: Erik!
Erik Lehnsherr: You abandoned us all!
[as Erik starts to cool off the jet heads starts to regain its balance, Charles walks over to the cockpit]

Logan: So you were always an asshole.
Erik Lehnsherr: I take it we’re best buddies in the future.
[Logan laughs]
Logan: I spent a lot of years trying to bring you down, bub.
Erik Lehnsherr: How’s that work out for you?
Logan: You’re like me, you’re a survivor.
[Erik looks at Logan for a moment]
Logan: want to pick all that shit up?

[Paris – a Vietnamese general, General Nhuan, is in a bar drinking with his comrades and Russian soldiers]
Vietnamese Captain: [subtitled] General, maybe you should slow down, we have a big day tomorrow.
General Nhuan: [subtitled] We’re celebrating, Captain. It’s not every day you win a war, let alone against the American devils. I’m getting another bottle.
[Nhuan walks over the bar where Raven is standing keeping an eye on him, as he walks over to stand beside her she knocks her glass over and turns to face him accusingly; in French]
General Nhuan: [subtitled] Excuse me.
[Raven replies back in Vietnamese]
Raven: [subtitled] I’m pretty sure it was my fault.
General Nhuan: [subtitled] You speak Vietnamese?
Raven: [subtitled] I’m an interpreter. I speak many tongues.
General Nhuan: [subtitled] Let me buy you another drink, unless you’re here with someone.
Raven: [subtitled] I’m alone.
[Nhuan smiles and turns to order her a drink]

[later Raven is in Nhuan’s room and he pours them some drink, Raven notices his invitation for the summit in Paris on the table]
Raven: [subtitled] You’re going to the summit tomorrow?
General Nhuan: [subtitled] A pretty girl interested in politics.
Raven: [subtitled] Looks can be deceiving.
General Nhuan: Show more maybe? Clothes off?
[Raven opens her coat and suddenly her body transforms into her mutant form, Nhuan watches her in shock]
Raven: What’s the matter, baby? You don’t think I look pretty like this?
[she drops her coat then holds her foot against his throat until he becomes unconscious and then picks up the invitation on the table to the summit in Paris]

[back on the plane, Erik goes over to Charles carrying a chess set]
Erik Lehnsherr: Fancy a game? It’s been a while.
Charles Xavier: I’m not in the mood for games, thank you.
[Logan watches them as Erik takes glass and pours himself a drink]
Erik Lehnsherr: I haven’t had a real sip in ten years.
[he takes a sip of his drink]
Erik Lehnsherr: I didn’t kill the president.
Charles Xavier: The bullet curved, Erik.
Erik Lehnsherr: Because I was trying to save him. They took me out before I could.
Charles Xavier: Why would you try and save him?
Erik Lehnsherr: Because he was one of us.
[Charles looks at him in surprise]
Charles Xavier: You must think me so foolish. You’ve always said they would come after us.
Erik Lehnsherr: I never imagined they’d use Raven’s DNA to do it.

Erik Lehnsherr: When did you last see her?
Charles Xavier: The day I left for Dallas.
[Erik takes the seat opposite Charles]
Charles Xavier: And how was she?
Erik Lehnsherr: Strong, driven, loyal.
Charles Xavier: How was she?
Erik Lehnsherr: She was, we were…
[he pauses a moment before continuing]
Erik Lehnsherr: I could see why she meant so much to you. You should be proud of her, Charles. She’s out there fighting for our cause.
Charles Xavier: Your cause. The girl I raise, she was not capable of killing.
Erik Lehnsherr: You didn’t raise her, you grew up with her. She couldn’t stay a little girl forever, that’s why she left.
Charles Xavier: She left because you got inside her head.
Erik Lehnsherr: That’s not my power. She made a choice.
Charles Xavier: But now we know where that choice leads, don’t we? She’s going to murder Trask, they’re going to capture her, and then they’re going to wipe us out.
Erik Lehnsherr: Not if we get to her first. Not if we change history tomorrow.

Erik Lehnsherr: I’m sorry, Charles. For what happened, I truly am.
[Charles looks at Erik with tears in his eyes, he then finishes his drink and looks down at the chess set]
Charles Xavier: It’s been a while since I’ve played.
Erik Lehnsherr: I’ll go easy on you. Might finally be a fair fight.
Charles Xavier: You have the first move.
[Erik looks down and moves a piece using his power]

[in Paris on the day of the summit we see a reporter outside the hotel where all the crowd have gathered]
Peace Summit Reporter: The diplomats from all around the world are arriving here today at the Hotel Royale. It’s an historic day as it’s the official ending of the United States’ military involvement in Vietnam. There’s the South Vietnamese foreign minister with other South Vietnamese dignitaries.
[inside the hotel Trask arrives with Stryker and they are being guided to his room]
Nixon Aide: The summit doesn’t begin for another hour. The hotel’s arranged a private room upstairs for your special guests.
Dr. Bolivar Trask: That’ll be a plenty of time.

[Trask and Stryker enter the room where the Vietnamese dignitaries along with other representative of communist nations are waiting]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Good afternoon everyone. Hello, thank you for coming. Congratulations on winning this war.
[Stryker places a folder in front of each dignitary]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Now I know you all have hands to shake and photos to take downstairs so I will get right to the point. There is a new enemy out there, an enemy that will render your arsenals useless, your armies powerless and your nations defenseless.

[at the same time Trask is having his meeting, the mutants drive up to the hotel building to stop Raven]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: You’ll need a new weapon for this war. I call them Sentinels.
[Stryker shows the dignitaries the blueprints]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Named after the ancient guardians that stood at the gates of the Citadel.
[at the same time Erik uses his power to take down the security guards and they drive past through the gates]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: They have the aeronautic capabilities of a Harrier jet, armed with guns that can fire off more than two thousand rounds per minute of thermo-ceramic ammunition. But size, power, speed, you could find that at Lockheed or Boeing. No, what makes the Sentinels so special is the ability to target the mutant X gene.

[Trask holds up a small device]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: A genetic guidance system that can lock onto a mark half a mile away and won’t trigger unless it’s identified the target. With this weapon, there will be no human collateral damage. If I turn it on, the system couldn’t even activate in here.
[Trask turns on the device and it starts to beep as it picks up a mutant reading]
Dr. Bolivar Trask: Unless there’s a mutant.
[he starts pointing the device at each person in the room and it suddenly goes to its maximum reading when pointed at General Nhuan]
