Lee Abbott: [day 1, referring to the news report] What the hell happened?
Roger: A bomb. I think.
Evelyn Abbott: [day 1, driving through the town] What is happening?
[trying to console young Beau in the backseat]
Evelyn Abbott: It’s okay, baby. It’s okay.
Marcus Abbott: Mom?
Evelyn Abbott: Yeah?
[suddenly a creature crash lands on their car, but Evelyn drives off quickly]
Evelyn Abbott: Oh, my God! It’s okay. It’s okay. We’re okay. We’re okay.
Marcus Abbott: That’s dad. That’s dad! Dad!
Evelyn Abbott: Where? Where? Where?
Marcus Abbott: Mom? Mom!
Evelyn Abbott: [as a bus is driving straight towards them] Oh, my God!
[Evelyn drives backwards to get away from the bus]
Marcus Abbott: Mom! Mom!
Emmett: [day 474, after Evelyn and the kids run into Emmett ] You can’t stay. I don’t know why you came all the way up here. But you can’t stay.
Evelyn Abbott: Up?
Emmett: There is not enough food, water, there is not enough of anything.
Evelyn Abbott: How do you know we traveled up?
Emmett: There is nothing I can do. You won’t survive.
Evelyn Abbott: Show me your face.
Emmett: I can’t help you. Please, I can’t help you.
Evelyn Abbott: Emmett? Emmett?
[she shows him the baby]
Evelyn Abbott: Please.
Emmett: What’s this? Some kind of feedback from the microphone?
Evelyn Abbott: It just works. I don’t know.
Emmett: I’ve never seen one dead before.
Evelyn Abbott: I’m sorry.
Emmett: Of what?
Evelyn Abbott: The boys. I assume.
Emmett: That day.
Evelyn Abbott: And Nora?
Emmett: Eleven weeks ago. She was sick. We held out as long as we could in the house. But the pain didn’t. Just when she started screaming, we had to come here.
Evelyn Abbott: It was smart.
Emmett: It wasn’t enough.
Evelyn Abbott: [referring to Lee] Can I ask you a question? When you saw the flame, night after night, did you know it was him?
Emmett: Yes.
Evelyn Abbott: And did you ever think to come for us?
Emmett: No.
Emmett: [to Evelyn] The people that are left, what they’ve become, you don’t know, do you? I knew. They’re not the kind of people worth saving.
Emmett: It’s the same song that’s been playing over and over the last four months.
Regan Abbott: [signing] You’re lying! My dad used the radio every day!
Emmett: What she’s saying?
Evelyn Abbott: She thinks he would have heard it.
Emmett: Who?
Evelyn Abbott: Lee.
Emmett: Your dad was never going to make it work.
Regan Abbott: [signing] You’re nothing like him!
Marcus Abbott: Does this mean that there are more people?
Evelyn Abbott: I don’t know, baby. I don’t…
Emmett: No! There is nothing left. I told you, there is nothing left. I want you gone tomorrow.
Regan Abbott: [signing to each other] It’s not a song. It’s a signal. They’re telling us where to look. I looked up the radio station. It’s an island!
[shows Marcus the map]
Regan Abbott: I can follow the train tracks. It’s not even one day. Then I can find a boat.
Marcus Abbott: You can’t do this.
Marcus Abbott: [signing to each other] Mom, will never let you go.
Regan Abbott: I can save them. I can save us.
Marcus Abbott: I’ll tell her.
Marcus Abbott: [signing to each other] Please don’t do this!
Regan Abbott: I need to try.
Marcus Abbott: Why?
Regan Abbott: Because dad would.
Marcus Abbott: And look what happened to him.
Evelyn Abbott: [referring to Regan] You have to find her for me. She’s going to get help, and I need you to go and find her for me, and bring her back to me.
Emmett: Alright, listen to me.
Evelyn Abbott: Please, Emmett. I am begging you.
Emmett: No, Evelyn.
Evelyn Abbott: I am begging you. We were friends, Emmett, please!
Evelyn Abbott: [to Emmett] Lee is gone. Now he’s gone. It’s a shame, because if he was here, he’d look you right in the eye, and he’d tell you that his little girl is absolutely the kind of person worth saving. So please go, find her. And bring her back to me.
Emmett: [after finding Regan] Listen to me. We stay here until they’re gone, and then we go. You understood? You can’t hear? You can’t hear. S**t!
Emmett: I’m taking you home. We’ll wait here, until they are gone. Goddammit!
Regan Abbott: [pulls up his face] Enunciate. Remember?
Emmett: I’m taking you back.
Emmett: They heard, the shot, okay?
[Regan shows him her kit to fend off the creatures]
Emmett: No! You can’t do this!
Regan Abbott: Help me.
Emmett: I’m taking you home.
Regan Abbott: What home? You said, your wife.
Emmett: Hey, don’t. Do not talk about my wife.
Regan Abbott: You said that you could not do enough. Now you can.
Marcus Abbott: [signing to each other] Don’t go.
Evelyn Abbott: I will be right back. A matter of hours.
Marcus Abbott: But the baby, I don’t know how.
Evelyn Abbott: I showed you how to do it. Stay calm. You have everything you need. Everything.
Evelyn Abbott: [signing to Marcus] Look, if I don’t go, soon you’ll be in a lot of pain. And I won’t know. I won’t lose you too. Breathe. Okay? I’ll be right back. I’ll be right back.
Man on Island: You heard the song? Figured it out?
Emmett: [points to Regan] She did.
Man on Island: I thought she was…
Emmett: Figured it out.
Man on Island: I’m not sure anyone here can actually believe it. I think most people had finally given up hope. It’s been a long time.
Emmett: How long?
Man on Island: That day. We got here the same way as you. We were in the city, when we heard the hurricane sirens. Once they knew, they couldn’t swim, the National Guard were told to start loading people on to boats. Any boat that they could find. So as soon as people saw the first one got out safe, everyone just started pushing forward. That’s when they started screaming. They had twelve boats lined up on the dock that day. Only two got out. Anyway, you’re here now. A new day.
Man on Island: [referring to finding the island] And how long did it take?
Emmett: Just under two days.
Man on Island: That’s determination.
Emmett: It’s necessity.
Man on Island: To get out?
Emmett: No. To give in.
Emmett: [to Regan, referring to Lee] I wanted to say, I’m sorry. I doubted you. I was wrong. And you were right. I’m nothing like him. You are.
Emmett: [as a creature is about to attack the island] Get inside! Get inside!
Man on Island: [as they reach the radio station] Where is it? We went too fast. What if we lost it?
Emmett: Give me the key.
Man on Island: Jesus Christ, it went back. My family.
Emmett: No. Alright, listen to me.
Man on Island: I have to get back to my family.
[just then a creature grabs and kills him]
