Best Quotes

Gerald Nussbaum: [referring to Leon] Hold on, Serra, I want to make sure I’m clear on this. The lynchpin, the key to your whole investigation is laying in a meat wagon with his brains smashed in?
Linda Amisted: Vincent saved lives, sir. The f***er was going out messy.
Gerald Nussbaum: I don’t care, Amistead. What I care about, is an eleven month investigation that has taken considerable resources on both sides of the border, is now well and truly f***ed.
Vincent Serra: Not necessarily.
Gerald Nussbaum: Don’t add insult to injury.

Mauricio: [to Alex] Life is good now. It’s calmer. More money, less blood.

Mauricio: Our friends got you something nice.
Alex Lewis: Mauri, you want someone else. I’m not up for it right now.
Mauricio: Get up for it. Job’s in El Paso. You’re from there, right?
Alex Lewis: Another reason to say no. I’m trying to tell you, I’m getting out.

Mauricio: Alex, I need you on this. You know the town.
Alex Lewis: It’s too much.
Mauricio: The job is for two. Don’t you have a brother in El Paso?
Alex Lewis: Mauri, are you spying on me?
Mauricio: It’s our job to know things, Alex. So stop talking this retirement s**t. Men like us don’t retire.

Maya: [as she sees him at the hotel bar] So, too early in the day for a glass of wine? Or too late for a Bloody Mary?
Alex Lewis: Guess that depends on what kind of day you want to have.
Maya: That’s up to you, isn’t it?

William Borden: Your people said this will be done quickly.
Alex Lewis: And it will.
William Borden: I’m going to need a little more specificity than that.
Alex Lewis: No, you won’t. The less you know, the better.

Alex Lewis: [holding a gun to Van Camp’s head] You know why I’m here!
Ellis Van Camp: It’s all a misunderstanding.
Alex Lewis: It’s always a misunderstanding.

Ellis Van Camp: Don’t do this! I didn’t say anything, alright? It wasn’t supposed to go this far.
Alex Lewis: If I’m here, it’s gone too far.

Nurse: [referring to Alex’s brother] Don’t expect too much. When the onset of Alzheimer’s is this sudden…
Alex Lewis: I know how it starts.

Hugo Marquez: It’s pretty obvious the appetite for big fish, ends at the border.
Gerald Nussbaum: I don’t like what you’re insinuating, Marquez.
Hugo Marquez: I don’t think I was insinuating anything. I was saying it pretty flat out.

Serena: [as Vincent drops off Beatriz at the group home] I saw the paperwork, is she a witness or victim?
Vincent Serra: Both.

Alex Lewis: [referring to Beatriz] She’s a child.
William Borden: And that’s a problem?
Alex Lewis: [referring to killing Beatriz] I won’t do it.
William Borden: Your people knew who the contract was for.
Alex Lewis: I f***ing won’t do it. Are you deaf?

Alex Lewis: [referring to Van Camp’s flash drive] You want this? Huh? You call the contract off.
William Borden: You really don’t know what you’re playing with.
Alex Lewis: Oh, yes, I do.

Alex Lewis: [to Borden] The girl stays alive. Or you’re answerable to me. A**hole.

William Borden: [over phone, referring to Alex] He knows.
Davana Sealman: That’s a bit vague.
William Borden: He knows my name, where I live. And he won’t do the job, and he’s got Van Camp’s flash drives.
Davana Sealman: You said he wasn’t going to be a problem.
William Borden: I’m going to call Mexico City.
Davana Sealman: That’s one solution. An obvious and unsubtle one.

Davana Sealman: [referring to Alex] What does he want?
William Borden: To have the contract on the girl called off. We do that, he turns over the info.
Davana Sealman: There’s something to be said for that.
William Borden: You can’t trust him.
Davana Sealman: I didn’t say I trusted him. I said, I see his point of view.

Alex Lewis: [after seeing on the news that Beatriz has been murdered] Was I here last night?
Maya: Yes. What’s wrong?
Alex Lewis: You sure?
Maya: Yes!

Mauricio: [after he’s sent to kill Alex, and ends up killing Maya] When did you go soft, Alex? They’ll end you for this.
Alex Lewis: Happy retirement, Maury!
[as Alex walks off, he sets off the car bomb that was meant for him, killing Mauricio]

'Memory's a m*****f***er. And as for justice, it ain't guaranteed.' - Vincent Serra (Memory) Click To Tweet

Dr. Meyers: Goodness, you got the heart of a thirty-five year-old. At this rate, you’ll live to be a hundred and thirty.
Davana Sealman: I’ll give you five million to make it a hundred and thirty-five. If you said, “Yes,” I’d fire you.
Dr. Meyers: You know if I said yes, I’d want you to.

Hugo Marquez: [referring to Beatriz] Nobody gives a f*** about that girl, Vincent. Except you, me, and Linda. I can do things you and her can’t. You know? As a concerned citizen.
Vincent Serra: From Mexico?
Hugo Marquez: Okay, concerned Mexican citizen.
Vincent Serra: With questionable investigative authority in the United States.

Ellis Van Camp: [as Alex listens to Van Camp’s flash drive] You’ve left me no choice. I won’t be cut out. Look, this doesn’t have to be ugly.
Davana Sealman: Blackmail is already ugly. Mr. Van Camp! We are not negotiating. You’ve crossed a line from which there is no return.

Vincent Serra: That’s three people likely killed with the same weapon.
Gerald Nussbaum: Look, I get it, the girl. She’s under your skin. Maybe you’re a little obsessed.
Vincent Serra: I’m just doing my job.

Linda Amisted: Hugo thinks it’s a pro, settling scores. We think it could be a hitter from across the fence.
Gerald Nussbaum: But you can’t be sure.
Vincent Serra: We can’t, but if the ballistics match, and there really is a Mexican killer tearing a** through town, we might want to get ahead of that. And we’re going to need Marquez.
Gerald Nussbaum: Alright, do what you have to do.

Danny Mora: [referring to Alex’s pills] Lab just came back on those pills. Diffadyl. Alzheimer’s drug. Your shooter is loosing his s**t.

Randy Sealman: [to Davana] Borden’s dead. Someone executed him. And if he got to Borden, then he’s close.

Vincent Serra: [over phone] Trafficking, Vincent Serra.
Alex Lewis: You’re the one who took the girl to the group home. Weren’t you?
Vincent Serra: Who is this?
Alex Lewis: Marshall. David Marshall.
Vincent Serra: [to Linda] Tap and trace.
Vincent Serra: David Marshall burned up a car downtown. Is that your doing?
Alex Lewis: I can’t keep doing your job for you.

Alex Lewis: [over phone] You’re too slow to make them pay. They’re too rich.
Vincent Serra: Who’s too rich?
Alex Lewis: The lawyer, the client.
Vincent Serra: Who’s the client?

Alex Lewis: [over phone] I want to believe that you are a good man, Vincent. I’m the bad man. Have been for a long time. But they have to be punished. If I can’t finish this, you have to.

Linda Amisted: [referring to Alex] He’s f***ing with us.
Vincent Serra: He’s just telling us we’re way too slow.

Vincent Serra: [referring to Alex] He said they’re too rich. Now, we’ve been getting push back on the trafficking every step of the way. No, I think he’s taking out the traffickers that we couldn’t. Leaving us breadcrumbs. Proving a point.

Vincent Serra: [referring to Alex] So everyone associated with this Processing Centre, the lawyer, the builder, Beatriz, all dead. He’s going to kill Randy Sealman.

Hugo Marquez: [referring to Randy] So this guy, he owns the detention center.
Linda Amisted: And you’re wondering why we’re protecting him?
Hugo Marquez: I don’t wonder why at all.

Alex Lewis: [as he kills Randy] You scum.

Alex Lewis: I’m Alex. Alex Lewis. You know what those people did to that child, right?
Vincent Serra: Only too well.
Alex Lewis: I’ve done crazy things. But you don’t hurt children. Ever.

Vincent Serra: Listen, why don’t you and I just have a talk?
Alex Lewis: No time for that.
Vincent Serra: I understand why you’re saying that. I know you’re not well.
Alex Lewis: We all have to die, Vincent. What’s important is what you do before you go.

Alex Lewis: [referring to Hugo] Is your friend a good shot?
Vincent Serra: Very.
Alex Lewis: Then it’s in your hands.
Hugo Marquez: [to Alex] Don’t move!
Vincent Serra: Put the f***ing gun down!
Alex Lewis: If I’m dead, you’ll never know the truth.

Gerald Nussbaum: [to Vincent] You know, I quit drinking fifteen years ago. But right now, I can actually taste the scotch in the back of my throat.

Vincent Serra: [referring to Alex] He’s no doubt a contractor, but I don’t think these have all been hits. He wants revenge for Beatriz Leon.

Linda Amisted: [after Alex accidentally shoots a cop] Motorcycle patrolman Eric Lyle. Must have found Alex wounded. There was blood all over the Bronco. I don’t know. Maybe he got spooked.
Vincent Serra: That’s not his style.
Linda Amisted: His style is murder, Vincent.

Vincent Serra: This guy from Mexico City, the one Borden was talking to Davana Sealman about. What if she hired him? Because I’m thinking if Alex is not up to killing Sealman himself, he wants us to bring her in.
Linda Amisted: Catch is, the only person who can connect Sealman to any of this…
Hugo Marquez: Is Alex.
Linda Amisted: She’s harder to get to than any of the others. He reached out to you to cover his bets.

Davana Sealman: You killed my son.
Alex Lewis: Yes. And I know what you’ve done.

Danny Mora: [after he brings Alex into police custody] You know why I didn’t just off you back there? Let me tell you why. That would have been mercy. No. I want to see you go to Yuma. Where I will make sure they f*** you to death, old man. You cop-killing piece of s**t. How about that little girl? You know what they do to people who hurt kids?
Alex Lewis: I’ll talk to FBI Agent Vincent Serra. No one else.

Hugo Marquez: [referring to Alex] If he went after Sealman with a broken gun, we’d have heard something.
Vincent Serra: I just think he’s at the end. He ain’t remembering things.

Vincent Serra: El Paso PD are holding Alex Lewis and I need you to transfer him into our custody.
Gerald Nussbaum: Let him be their problem.
Vincent Serra: Which side of this do you really want to be on? I need to talk to him. But it seems very powerful people don’t want that to happen.

Vincent Serra: [referring to Alex] What the f*** did you do to him?
Danny Mora: He resisted arrest.
Vincent Serra: So you had to bust him up?
Danny Mora: He’s a cop killer for f***’s sake.
Vincent Serra: You like being on Davana Sealman’s payroll?
[Danny then tries to attack Vincent]

Alex Lewis: You are the one that shot me.
Hugo Marquez: I’m not going to offer an apology.
Alex Lewis: I’m not asking for one.

Vincent Serra: I understand you want to clear this up.
Alex Lewis: Clear this up? No. I want Sealman dead.
Vincent Serra: Well, she’s not officially tied to any crime.
Alex Lewis: You know that’s not true. She sanctioned the hit. She hired me to kill two people. Ellis Van Camp and the second was that child. Girl of thirteen. Beatriz. I won’t do that.
Vincent Serra: No. No. You don’t touch children.

Davana Sealman: You know, the hardest thing is never really trusting those people close to you. Besides Randy, I will never really know why someone is with me.

Alex Lewis: It’s not over.
Vincent Serra: Everybody’s dead, Alex. Even if you do make it to trial, you get life, my friend, which from what the doctors tell me is maybe three to six months. So, what are we doing here? Why are we here?
Alex Lewis: Davana Sealman. Justice.
Vincent Serra: Justice? Are you kidding me?

Vincent Serra: You really expect we’re going to find justice?
Alex Lewis: I expect you to try.

Vincent Serra: Memory’s a m*****f***er. And as for justice, it ain’t guaranteed.

Andy Villalobos: [to Vincent] Look, I need real evidence. Alright, not just the f***ing testimony of some murderer who’s cognitively impaired.

Gerald Nussbaum: [referring to trying to build a case against Davana] Are you sure you’re up for this?
Andy Villalobos: No, Gerald. I’m definitely f***ing not up for this.

Alex Lewis: [referring to Meyers] They sent that man to kill me. He walked right past the cops. That b**ch owns the whole game.
Vincent Serra: She doesn’t own the FBI.
Alex Lewis: Are you sure about that? Listen to me. Maybe they’ll kill you too. Just to bury this.

Alex Lewis: You said justice can’t be guaranteed.
Vincent Serra: No.
Alex Lewis: We owe it to that child, Vincent.
[he then drops his gun, steps outside of the SUV and the SWAT team kill him]

Andy Villalobos: [after Vincent gives him the flash drive and he refuses to move against Davana] Look, when you’re dealing with that kind of money, even if I had her handing the gun to Alex, and paying him, she’d probably still win.

Vincent Serra: [to Villalobos] You’re nothing but a f***ing coward!
Gerald Nussbaum: Okay. That’s it, Serra! A lot of people, myself included, are fed up!
Vincent Serra: Yeah.
Gerald Nussbaum: Time to take a leave, Serra. Make it a long one. And then let’s re-evaluate.
Vincent Serra: With pleasure.

Linda Amisted: We should celebrate your suspension.
Vincent Serra: I’m not really up for it.
Linda Amisted: I wasn’t asking, dips**t.

Vincent Serra: Since when have you been so social?
Linda Amisted: I’m trying to turn over a new leaf. I mean, you can’t be an a**hole forever, right?
Vincent Serra: I don’t know.

Vincent Serra: [after he sees news report about Davana’s death] What’s going on? Did you just give me an alibi?
Linda Amisted: Amen.
[then we see Hugo burning his clothes and gets rid of the knife he used to kill Davana with]
