Best Quotes

Jade: [at rehab] Every day, it was the same. Is there anyone, anyone in my old life who would still talk to me? Wouldn’t hang up the phone when I ask for money? And as soon as I got that money, it was gone. And then I needed more. Like that guy in the story. That guy who keeps pushing the rock up the hill, and every time he gets to the top, it rolls straight back down. Every day, I pushed that rock up the hill, and every day, it rolled right back down to the bottom. But I’m here now, and I know that every day can be a fresh start if you want it to.

Darby: [after Jayde’s story] Darby, eleven days. The whole pushing a rock up the hill thing is very moving. I remember the first time I heard you tell that story at the recovery center. What was that like two years ago?

Darby: Honestly, what are we doing here?
Group Leader: Sobriety is a battle. It’s a daily battle.
Darby: I know, I’ve tried. Seven times. The Sobriety Center. Way Forward Recovery Clinic. A Better Tomorrow. NA. But, hey, it’s rehab or jail.

Darby: My mom is in the hospital. I have to call my sister.
Mike: Last week you said your mom was in a car accident.
Darby: Last week I was in detox! Who knows what the f*** I was saying?

Devon: [over phone] Jesus, Darby. I’m not bailing you out of rehab. I’ve got enough problems with Mom in the hospital. F***. I told Joe not to look for you. No one has time for your bulls**t right now. Mom could die.
Darby: Devon.
Devon: Don’t call me back.

Darby: [after getting stuck at a visitors center due to the storm] Do you have the Wi-Fi? Excuse me.
Sandi: No, there’s no Wi-Fi.
Ed: [as he enters the room] Storm’s on top of us now.
Sandi: Well?
Ed: I got one bar by the tree for about ten seconds.

Darby: [after she discovers a girl, Jay locked in a van] I’m going to get you out, okay? I promise, okay?

Sandi: [to Darby] Why don’t you come on over here and sit down? Make yourself comfortable. We are here till the storm clears.
Ed: And then some.

Ed: [referring to cards] Anybody want to play?
Sandi: You can’t wait?
Ed: We’re stuck here. Seven Card Stud. Quarter a hand?
Lars: I don’t gamble.
Sandi: That’s smart.

Lars: I got a game everyone could play.
Ed: What’s that?
Lars: Bulls**t.
Ed: Bulls**t?
Lars: Yeah, Bulls**t. It’s the best game.

Ed: [referring to the card game] Sandi. You in?
Sandi: Fine. But aren’t you scared you’re going to lose? You know I can see right through your bulls**t.

Lars: Oh, four in a row to start a game?
Ed: They got a name for that?
Ash: Yeah, bulls**tter’s row.
Lars: That’s not a thing.

Ed: [as they’re playing the card game] Everybody’s got a tell. Trick is, play the man, not the hand.
Lars: Everybody’s got a tell, huh? What’s yours?
Ed: You’re going to have to figure that one out for yourself.

Ash: [to Ed and Darby] Well, thank you for your service, really. And your dad too.
Sandi: Okay, everyone always says that, and it sounds about as empty as “thoughts and prayers”.
Ed: Babe.
Sandi: Look, nobody knows what you sacrificed, Ed.
Ed: It’s okay.

Lars: [referring to Ed’s time in the army] Did you ever kill anyone?
Sandi: Jesus.
Lars: What?
Ed: I lost count. Just kidding.

Ed: Yeah, Sandi here surprised me with a little vacation to my favorite city.
Ash: Reno’s your favorite city?
Ed: Yeah, all the action of Vegas, half the noise.

Lars: [after Lars enters the truck] You’re lucky you’re out here, Jay. That place is full of liars and cheats.

Ed: [as they see Lars in the truck] Where’s he going?
Ash: Sore Loser-ville.
Sandi: Good thing he doesn’t gamble.

Ed: Oh, it’s going to be a long night.

Ash: What the hell is going on?
Darby: [referring to Lars] He has a little girl tied up in his van.
Ash: Mr. Bulls**t? Are you sure?
Darby: Yes.

Darby: [referring to Jay] She’s sick or something. She could die out there.
Ash: We got to go get her.
Darby: Yeah. But he’s probably just waiting out there. I think he knows that I was in the van. That’s why he came in here.

Darby: [referring to Lars] He has a gun.
Ash: Look. Maybe Ed has a gun. He’s a marine. Alright. You’re going to be okay. You’re not going to be out there by yourself.
Darby: What if Ed doesn’t have a gun?
Ash: Then we have to find something here.

Jay: [as Darby is trying to help Jay escape] But where are the men?
Darby: Men?
Jay: The ones who took me.
Darby: How many men were there? How many men?
Jay: Two.
[just then Darby sees Ash with Lars]

Lars: [referring to Darby] She’s in the van!
Ash: Yeah, no s**t, she’s in the van.

Ed: [referring to Lars] I don’t like that guy.
Sandi: Ed, you don’t know that guy.
Ed: I’ve known plenty of “that guy”. Weird little white boys with a chip on their shoulder.

Ash: [referring to Devon’s text to Darby] And why would she write that? She doesn’t want you there and, apparently, neither does your mom.
Darby: Why do you care?
Ash: I need to know who’s messing up my life right now.

Ash: What did you do?
Darby: Drugs.
Ash: What kind of drugs?
Darby: Whatever I could get.
Ash: I bet your dad loved that, huh? Big-time war hero with a junkie daughter.
Darby: He’s dead.
Ash: What, he die in the war?
Darby: He shot himself in the head.
Ash: [points his gun at her head] Like this?

Ash: First, the kid got sick, then there’s a storm, and now you. A junkie.
Darby: You don’t know me!
Ash: I know exactly who you are.

Ash: [whispering to Darby] F*** this up, I’ll kill everyone.

Ash: What you said earlier about me not knowing what they go through, you were right.
Darby, she told me what her dad did when he got home. It’s a tragedy. I mean, someone taking their own life like that. I can’t imagine that kind of pain.
Ed: [to Darby then Ash] Sorry about your dad. That wasn’t your goddamn story to share. You might want to think harder before you open your damn mouth.

Ash: [as he’s trying to strangle Darby] All you had to do was nothing!

Ash: [to Darby, referring to Jay] She dies out here, it’s your fault.

Ed: [as they hear Ash shoot at Darby] That was a gunshot.
Sandi: Are you sure?
Ed: There’s only one thing in the world that sounds like a gunshot.

Ed: [referring to Jay] You know this girl?
Darby: Ash and Lars kidnapped her. She was in their van.
Sandi: What?
Darby: Ash has a gun. He’s going to kill us all if we don’t get out of here.

Darby: We have to go now!

Sandi: [to Ed] They’re going to kill us.
Ash: Don’t make me come in there and get her!

Ed: You walk through that door, I will shoot you dead!
Lars: You think he’s really got a gun?
Ash: I don’t know.

Ash: [referring to Ed having a gun] Ed, I think I’m going to call bulls**t on that!
Ed: Okay. Come on in.

Sandi: If this girl does not get her medication, she will die. Let them take her.
Darby: They can’t leave. I have their keys.
Sandi: What? No. You have to give them back. We want them to leave. They have to leave.

Ed: [as Ash and Lars are threatening to set the visitors center on fire] They’re bluffing. They’re not crazy enough to do it.
Darby: I think maybe they are.
Sandi: Just give them what they want.
Darby: If we do that, we’re dead.
Sandi: You don’t know that!

Sandi: We should just give them what they want.
Ed: We’ve been in holes before. And we’re going to claw ourselves out of this one, the way we always do.
Sandi: But this isn’t a hole. This is a grave.

Ed: So what’s your plan, Ash?
Ash: What does it look like, Ed? Huh?
Ed: It looks like you’re thinking about setting fire to the only thing you care about, and stranding yourself at the scene of the crime. You’re stupid, Ash, but you’re not that stupid.

Ash: You know what’s stupid, Ed? Stupid is getting yourself killed for a stranger!
Ed: I’m a Marine, you idiot. It’s what we do.
Ash: How about you, Sandi? You want to die because Ed wants to play hero?

Ed: Since when you been carrying Mace?
Sandi: I’d need a much bigger purse to fit everything you don’t know about me.

Lars: Are we really going to burn them?
Ash: That’s up to them. Five!
Ed: They won’t do it.
Ash: Four!
Sandi: Ed, please.
Ash: Three!

Sandi: Ed, I don’t want to die here.
Ed: Nobody is dying here.

Sandi: [after Jay identifies Sandi as her maid who helped Ash and Lars take her] The bank called me, and they told me that it was all gone. Our savings, our future. All of it, Ed. All of it! So I tried to fix it. That is what I did.
Ed: Why didn’t you just say something? I had a plan!
Sandi: What? You’re going to win it back?

Jay: I just want to go home.
Sandi: Yeah, I do too.

Ed: [to Sandi] How did you even meet these freaks?
Lars: The Internet.
Sandi: We were never even supposed to meet, and nothing was supposed to happen to Jay. And nothing is going to happen to her, right? You’re still going to ransom her, right?
Darby: They were never going to ransom her. They traffic kids. They sell them. You got catfished.
Sandi: Don’t you say that.

Ash: [referring to the truck keys] Darby! Where did you put the keys?
Ed: Listen, you tell him, and we’re all dead.
[suddenly Ash shoots Ed and Sandi as she tries to attacl Lars with Mace]

Lars: [to Ash, referring to Ed] You killed him. You shot him dead. You shot him.

Ash: [referring to killing Ed] I had to. I had no choice. I have to look after us. Alright?
Lars: I know. I know!
Ash: I have to look after you, Lars!

Ash: It’s quitting time, Darby. Where are the keys?
Darby: I don’t have them.

Ash: [shows Darby the text from Devon] Your mom died. Thoughts and prayers.

Lars: What’s wrong?
Ash: The text to the cops went through.
Lars: [referring to Darby] You know she sent a text?
Ash: Yeah, but I deleted it.

Darby: I need you to turn out the lights.
Jay: I can’t.
Darby: Yes, you can. He won’t hurt you.

Darby: [pointing the gun at Lars] Drop it, or I’ll f***ing kill him.
Lars: No, don’t let her.
Ash: She’s not going to do it. It’s okay.
Darby: The f*** I won’t!

Corporal Ron Hill: [after Darby shoots Ash] Put your weapon down!
Darby: Stop! Wait! You don’t get it! Wait!
Corporal Ron Hill: Put the gun down.
Darby: No! He’s the…
Corporal Ron Hill: Put it down now!
[he shoots Darby, and Ash shoots the cop]

Ash: [points his gun at Darby’s head] Remind me how it was again. Was it like this?
Ash: [points the gun under her chin] Or was it like this?
Ash: [points the gun at her mouth] Oh, no, no, no, no. It was like this.
[suddenly Darby stabs him in the neck with a screwdriver]

Darby: [as we see her back in rehab] Darby, forty-eight days.
[after which she is then visited by her sister, Devon]
