Alexandra: To me, he just felt honest. Most Pre-Pans don’t.
Katrina: Maybe if you’re young enough, he can be compelling. But he’s not innocent, or kind.

Young Kirsten: Gyrsopcope. And spilled half an ocean into the workstations of the crew. This drowned every grown-up. The survivors are kids called the Undersea. They want to go home and build a future Earth by using time travel. Dr. Eleven talks to both sides and doesn’t care what happens, or what they do. He scares everyone.


 

Frank Chaudhary: [flashback] Hey, Jee. You still scared of the dark?
Jeevan Chaudhary: Yeah.


 

Kirsten: What did the Prophet say to you? What was so amazing? I want to know. Really.
Alexandra: He asked me to leave the Symphony. And I said yes. Because that’s how I felt that day. And then after the bonfire, I went to go meet him, and he didn’t show.

Clark: What’s happened?
Nun: Mr. Homeland Security apparently went around, and told all the people he liked that he’s leaving for a better world, Miami Beach.


 

Clark: This is the best thing that could have possibly happened. Okay, they left. They didn’t invite you, or me, because they thought they were better than you. They thought they deserved to live and you didn’t. They were in it for themselves. And the only problem with their plan is, they were taken in by a janitorial con man.


 

Clark: He was an opportunist, and he took advantage of your fear, and the illusion of his power, and he has likely just led all those people to their death.


 

Clark: All that matters is the now and what got us to this point. Because the past is a map, and it got us here. And here, at this airport, we have won the post-apocalyptic lottery! And that plane leaving just made all our shares go up!


 

Clark: Here we are, with much of our hierarchy of needs already met. We have shelter. We have food. We’re a community. And we’re tucked away in a place no one is ever going to find us.


 

Clark: And we’re in this together, and we’re a family now.


 

Elizabeth: [to Clark] Well played, Marc Antony. You’re a star.


 

Clark: [to Miles, Elizabeth] We’ve really got something here. You know? The four of us, including Tyler, because I don’t discount him. You know, the sympathy for the children, the child. Some connotation of Arthur. Your celebrity is a little less relevant in a post-apocalyptic context. I know. No, but it still has a sparkle to it. They remember your fame.


 

Young Tyler: Why do we need a leader at all?
Clark: Because, Tyler, leaders give us hope. And we won’t survive here long enough to repopulate the Earth if the people here don’t feel hopeful.
Young Tyler: Maybe we shouldn’t though.
Clark: Shouldn’t what, Tyler?
Young Tyler: Repopulate.
Elizabeth: That’s a little bleak, isn’t it?
Clark: No, it’s cute.


 

Clark: [pretending to talk to Arthur over radio] Listen, I’m sitting here with your son, and I’m sorry to say it, but he’s being a real knob. Yeah, asking all the other kids to pretend, but he won’t play the game. Was he always like this?


 

Young Tyler: [pretending to talk to Arthur over radio] Hey, dad. Sorry I didn’t get a chance to come see your play in Chicago. I really wanted to. I was really excited. But mom had a night shoot. She really tried. Anyway, it’s cool that you did King Lear. I don’t know what else to say. I’m glad I saw you last month, but I wish I could see you again.


 

Elizabeth: What your father did really hurt me. I don’t know what it is about being here, but I don’t know, it seems like maybe there’s something good happening, with us. Am I crazy? Do you feel it too?
Young Tyler: Maybe it’s just because dad’s dead.


 

Elizabeth: He left you something. It’s more of a symbol than anything, but I had it in my bag.
Young Tyler: [referring to Station Eleven] The art’s cool.
Elizabeth: The MC on the cover is for Miranda Carroll, who was your father’s first wife.
Young Tyler: I remember her.
Elizabeth: He sent it to me a couple of weeks ago. And I got it in the mail, and I kept it from you. I’ve been doing that for years. He’s been sending you letters since the divorce, and I burn them.
Young Tyler: Why?
Elizabeth: Because I’m selfish.


 

Elizabeth: [referring to Tyler] He can tell when people are lying.
Clark: Well, what did you lie to him about?
Elizabeth: That Arthur kept trying.


 

Clark: I’m making a museum. A tribute to the best of the old days. A reminder of how good we used to have it, something to aim for, to get back to. Talking to the dead through the radio system feels macabre. This will be better.


 

Clark: Tyler processed the quarantine as some kind of personal humiliation. He needs to grow up and get over it.
Elizabeth: Do you hate Tyler because you hated Arthur?
Clark: I don’t hate Tyler.
Elizabeth: But you did hate Arthur.
Clark: Why? You think I was jealous of him? Because that’s what he thought too.


 

Clark: Arthur was pathetic. He was a B-list loser who surrounded himself with C-list trophy duds like yourself.

Tyler Leander: When I was a kid, someone gave me a comic book. I read it, and lost it. I tried to forget it. It all came to me when I needed it the most. That blue spaceman really calmed me down.
Kirsten: That’s because Dr. Eleven is a kid. It’s K inside the suit, the Rebel Undersea Leader. She’s in a time loop.
Tyler Leander: I never thought about it like that. I do relate though.


 

Tyler Leander: I’m a Post-Pan. Just born before.
Kirsten: Most Pre-Pans lost their minds.
Tyler Leander: Yeah. That’s the whole problem.


 

Tyler Leander: My father’s first wife was an artist. Not my mother. They both died before. But when he was alive, he spoke Spanish, and he thought she didn’t. So he would have all these conversations in front of her with his dad about how selfish she was, how crazy, how he loved her, but she didn’t love him, how he didn’t understand her art. After she left him, she called to say that she loved him. And they had that whole conversation in Spanish. She told him he had never asked her anything about herself.
Kirsten: That doesn’t seem fair.
Tyler Leander: [in Spanish] He was a selfish b****rd. But it doesn’t matter. There is no before. Only what is to come.
Kirsten: I don’t speak Spanish.
Tyler Leander: Neither do I.


 

Kirsten: What’s that game they play? The one like tag?
Tyler Leander: Infection. The only way everybody wins is, everybody gets sick.

Cody: No way. They’ll find you. He’s been building up the Undersea for ten years. They’re coming when he lights the torch.

Young Kirsten: What’s your job?
Frank Chaudhary: I’m a ghostwriter.
Young Kirsten: What are you ghostwriting?
Frank Chaudhary: An autobiography.
Young Kirsten: Don’t you have to write your own autobiography?

Frank Chaudhary: Listen, Kirsten, my brother does weird s**t sometimes. He brought home a bird once that he found on the sidewalk with a broken neck. He’s a terrible babysitter, and I’m sort of a shut-in, but we’re safe.


 

Young Kirsten: I had a brother. He died before he was born. Maybe he would have been at home with a babysitter when Jeevan tried to take me to my house.

Frank Chaudhary: [describing after he woke up in a hospital] I start screaming for help. And I look down and Jeevan is there, asleep on the floor. So I’m thinking I’m either dead, or I’m home.
Young Kirsten: Where were you?
Frank Chaudhary: Military base in Singapore. He got a twenty-four hour flight on Siya’s credit card.
Jeevan Chaudhary: I flew first class, by the way. She never found out.
Young Kirsten: She did.
Jeevan Chaudhary: Really?

Clark: I listened to you. And I agreed. I wanted the Traveling Symphony to come to try something new, and I’m admitting the museum isn’t doing the job anymore. But I assumed they’d be terrible, or just lighter.
Elizabeth: It’s f***ing Hamlet, Clark.


 

Clark: I never noticed how insolent Hamlet is to the power structures. The man insults the king.
Elizabeth: Claudius kills his father.
Clark: Yes, but he had his reasons. Nobody ever tells the story from that point of view. But Hamlet, imagine if our teenagers felt that anger, that clearly? And it’s like heroin.
Elizabeth: What are you saying, Clark?
Clark: I’m withdrawing my vote. They can’t perform.
Elizabeth: You can’t do that. Not now.
Clark: Obviously, they can’t be allowed to leave. We’ll have to keep them in custody. They know how to get here. They could bring back others.


 

Clark: [flashback] I’m a CEO whisperer. Really a lot of CEOs these days are kind of the sensitive types, so they have to learn the alpha moves.
Arthur Leander: You were a violin player in a punk band when we met.
Clark: Yeah, your point?
Arthur Leander: Who cares about alpha moves? The only thing you could do was to show people how you felt.
Clark: I’m aware I’ve changed.
Arthur Leander: And I respect that so much more, Clark. More than this whole chest-bumping macho attitude.


 

Arthur Leander: What about nice people? Or quiet people? Or even better, people who don’t even think like that at all? People who only make things for their own private reasons.
Clark: Arthur, you like those people because you dominate them from the start.
Arthur Leander: What does that mean?
Clark: They don’t push back against you because you’re a movie star. Oh, come on. You’re aware of that, yeah? What, you think it’s because they love you, or they’re scared of you, but it’s actually because they don’t care about you.

Clark: Because Miranda didn’t care if what she was doing was great. She didn’t care if anyone ever even read it. She had to do what she was doing.

Tyler Leander: All the people who died out there. Gitchegumee Air, Flight 452. They landed the same day as us. A few hours later. They didn’t let them off though. They were sick. We were inside. Nice and safe. But it’s time for Tyler and Elizabeth to go.
Kirsten: So you ran away. And you let everyone believe that you died. And when you were alone, you thought about Station Eleven.


 

Tyler Leander: What happened to you in the First Hundred?
Kirsten: I was in Chicago. I was lucky for a kid. I had a grownup who cared about me. Right before the Flu, I was in a play, with Arthur Leander. I knew him. I loved him, actually. He was kind to me. He talked about his son, a lot. We were supposed to meet at the premiere. But then, they were late.


 

Kirsten: Arthur gave me Station Eleven. And when I read it, it didn’t matter that the world was ending. Because it was the world. Tyler, you didn’t come back here for that.
Tyler Leander: Then why did I come back?
Kirsten: Because they didn’t die. They’re all still alive. You left.
Tyler Leander: I remember being locked up for trying to help someone. I remember that they failed. I remember damage. Then escape. Then adrift in a stranger’s galaxy for a long, long time. But I’m safe now. I found it again. There is a Before. It was just awful. I release you from the Undersea.


 

Tyler Leander: [as he’s set fire to the memorial plaque] This is all your fault! You brought it back! You brought everything back!
Clark: Tyler? Tyler. Thank God you’re alive.
Tyler Leander: I don’t know you, or you.

Terry: It’s a solstice miracle. Lara delivered you to us. I needed another doctor, or I knew I’d end up with a mass grave out back in the employee parking lot. What were you doing two hundred and seventy-six days ago?

Terry: The vernal equinox.
Jeevan Chaudhary: Lady, I got to f***ing go. There’s a nine year-old girl in the cabin.

Miranda Carroll: It’s strange. I lost everyone that knew me. I lost you. I had to finish this first. That’s the only way I know how to say it. I’m just sorry that I was too late.


 

Miranda Carroll: [over phone] I’m sealed in a hotel room alone, kind of drunk, whole world’s ending, hoping I live to see the sunrise. An old friend just called back.
Clark: So there’s something I wanted to say to you, Miranda, in case we don’t survive. Those first few months you and Arthur were together, were the happiest time in my life.


 

Clark: I know you haven’t seen Arthur, but I had dinner with him about a month ago in Chicago, and we talked about you. I told him you weren’t an a**hole, you were just an artist.
Miranda Carroll: He called me. Told me you said some things that opened his eyes. I woke up the next day and finished the book, last two pages. Had a flight to Chicago. Found a print shop in Lincolnwood called Zalinski’s. Printed five. I wanted to send you one, but I’ve got it here.

Kirsten: The Prophet. When we got separated, I went to find him. To kill him, to protect you, to protect all of us. And when I found him, there were just children everywhere. And he said that you were in danger, and he knew how to find you. And I didn’t.

Jim: I did not realize you were also a graphic novelist.
Miranda Carroll: I started the day my family died.

Tyler Leander: Cody was the one who wanted to be an actor, not me.
Kirsten: You should talk to your mom.
Tyler Leander: You should get out of here, with all your friends.
Kirsten: After the play.


 

Jeevan Chaudhary: [to Miles, refering to Clark’s wounds] There’s a lot that can be done in the next few weeks that will help. Having just one person, it’s a big deal. Just one other person.


 

Clark: The answer is still no. You can’t play Gertrude, and Tyler can’t play f***ing Hamlet, because it isn’t f***ing art therapy. It is civilization.
Elizabeth: It’s the only way he’ll talk to me, Clark. It’s all I want.
Clark: And all I want is a f***ing time machine!


 

Kirsten: You’re right. Tyler’s dangerous. I tried to kill him. I wanted to. But I couldn’t.
Clark: Why not?
Kirsten: [shows him Statio Eleven] Do you know what this is?
Clark: It’s Miranda’s book. How?
Elizabeth: Did Tyler give you that?
Kirsten: No. Arthur did.


 

Kirsten: I was Young Goneril in King Lear. We met backstage.
Clark: My God. You’re Kiki. Arthur loved you.
Kirsten: He loved Tyler too.


 

Clark: [to Kirsten] We’ll do your goddamn play. I’ll be Claudius. It’s what Arthur would’ve wanted.


 

Alexandra: [as they’re about to begin the play] How do you feel? Right now.
Tyler Leander: Like I don’t know what I’m going to do.
Alexandra: That feeling’s perfect for the scene.


 

Tyler Leander: Kirsten. Why are you helping me?
Kirsten: Stabbing you didn’t work. Break a leg.


 

Clark: [as Tyler is pointing Kirsten’s knife at him during the play] I loved him too, Tyler.


 

Tyler Leander: I’m sorry for burning down your tower.
Elizabeth: Oh, well, I’m glad you did. I hated that f***ing place. I’m sorry too. For what happened here. For everything. I would’ve gone with you. Why didn’t you just ask me to come?
Tyler Leander: You wanted to stay.


 

Elizabeth: Were you happier? After?
Tyler Leander: Yeah.
Elizabeth: Okay. So you’ll leave again. I understand.
Tyler Leander: Mom. Just come.
Elizabeth: Okay.


 

Miranda Carroll: [over phone] Captain, I need you to go against every single instinct you have and let the dead be gone. You don’t know me, but my name is Miranda Carroll. I’m forty years-old, I was born in the Virgin Islands, and I lost my whole family to a hurricane. Hurricane Hugo. Maybe you know it.
Captain Hugo Bennett: I was named after it.
Miranda Carroll: Then you get it. It’s over. There is no rescue mission.


 

Miranda Carroll: [over phone] Lock the doors. Don’t let them out.
Captain Hugo Bennett: Who?
Miranda Carroll: Your passengers.
Captain Hugo Bennett: Why would I do that?
Miranda Carroll: The people on that plane are dead already. They’re all ghosts. So am I. So are you. But the people in that airport…
Captain Hugo Bennett: The people in here don’t deserve to die like caged animals.
Miranda Carroll: No. They don’t deserve it.


 

Miranda Carroll: Everybody I loved and who loved me died right in front of me, Captain. A live wire came through our flooded home. I should’ve died too. But I was coloring up on the countertop. So I survived. The people in the airport…
Captain Hugo Bennett: They’re on the countertop.
Miranda Carroll: That’s right. They’re all up on the countertop now.


 

Miranda Carroll: Have you got family, Captain?
Captain Hugo Bennett: I do. A small one. My wife’s not answering. Left a message.
Miranda Carroll: What message did you leave?
Captain Hugo Bennett: That I’d be home soon.


 

Clark: They’re all heroes on board that plane. Every single one of them. Those people saved us.
Miles: So did you. All those big speeches at the perfect time.
Clark: I was f***ing good at the big speeches, wasn’t I?
Miles: They got me.
Clark: But you, Miles, you turned on the lights.


 

Alexandra: I love you, Kirsten.
Kirsten: I love you.
Alexandra: Goodbye.
Kirsten: Wait, now?
[Alexandra then rides off on her horse to join Tyler]


 

Kirsten: [after their emotional reunion] What’s it called, your island?
Jeevan Chaudhary: Delano. Lara’s from there. Islands are great when you got kids. There’s only so far they can run. Raising kids is hard, you know? You go in and out of sync. It’s like a yo-yo. You love them, but you get angry. You scare them, they run away.
Kirsten: I was never scared with you.
Jeevan Chaudhary: I was always scared. Then I met this girl. Said I’d walk her home. It was so cold. She forgot her key.
Kirsten: [she embraces him] You walked her home. Thank you.


 

Jeevan Chaudhary: There goes your family.
Kirsten: Yep. I’ll put the airport on the wheel. Bring your family next year.
Jeevan Chaudhary: Yeah. They know all about you. Frank, and Key, and Auddie. I tell them the story. Goodbye, Kirsten.
Kirsten: Bye. Bye.
