Best Quotes:

Beth: [referring to their accommodation] Can we move in? Stay forever? Okay. That’s it. I’m never going home. Think Rob would notice?
Kate: Probably. But who cares?

Kate: Finally. To weekends away.
Beth: With best friends.

Beth: [over phone] I don’t know what to wear. Nothing fancy enough.
Rob: So just go in your granny panties. You’ll still look great.
Beth: I’m so tired. I just want to go to bed.
Rob: So go to bed. It’s your holiday too.

Rob: [over phone] You guys have a good night. Don’t get too drunk.
Kate: We will. And we will.
Beth: We definitely will.

Beth: [referring to her shoes] If I break my neck in these things, it’s your fault.
Kate: You look like a supermodel. You should keep them.
Beth: Yeah. Yeah. They’ll look great at the supermarket.

Beth:  I’ve been a crap friend. I should’ve been there for you.
Kate: You had a baby. You’re forgiven.

Kate: Isn’t it about time you got back on the horse?
Beth: I just don’t feel like it.
Kate: Is it Rob? Is he not doing it for you anymore?
Beth: No. No. It’s not Rob.
Kate: A body never lies.
Beth: No. No. It’s me.

Kate: [referring to Rob] Have you thought about leaving him?
Beth: What?
Kate: If you’re not happy, take it from me, divorce is the answer. Especially when it comes with a big fat alimony paycheck.
Beth: We’re just going through a rough patch.

Kate: [to Beth] Oh, come on. Let’s relive our misspent youth. It took me months to convince you to come away. Who knows when we’re going to do it again.

Kate: [referring to Luka] When was the last time you got hit on by someone that hot?
Beth: He’s not hitting on me.
Kate: Yeah, he is. Come on, we were just saying you need to get back on the horse.
Beth: I’m married.
Kate: So? Rob doesn’t have to find out.
Beth: Are you joking?
Kate: One night of excitement might bring you out of your rut.

Beth: [the next morning after Kate’s gone missing] We are meant to be doing a bike tour.
Rob: There you go. That’s why she’s vanished. Should’ve told her it was a shopping tour.
Beth: She didn’t leave a note, and she hasn’t texted either.
Rob: Did you have an argument?
Beth: [recalls Kate yelling “b**ch” at her] No.

Beth:  She’s not answering her phone. And I think I found blood.
Pavic: Did you check the hospitals? Maybe she had an accident.
Beth: Yeah. I did, but there’s no record of her being admitted.

Zain: Has something happened? Did you lose something?
Beth: My friend.

Beth: Escorts? As in… Well, I didn’t know that was an actual, real thing? I didn’t hire them.
Zain: Then your friend must have.
Beth: No. She didn’t hire them either. Oh, my God. She kept going on and on about how I needed to have some fun. I’m such an idiot. I wondered why he was into me.

Rob: [over phone] You went to the police? I mean, this is Kate we’re talking about. She’s not exactly reliable.
Beth: No. No. She wouldn’t do this to me. Leave without telling me?
Rob: Really? How many times on a night out did she ditch you for a bloke she’d only just met?
Beth: No, I’ve left her dozens of messages. Something’s happened to her.

Rob: I’ve got some brilliant pictures to show you of Aster by the way. Earlier on, we were watching The Godfather, and it turns out she really likes the part where they find the horse’s head in the bed.
Beth: Great parenting.

Zain: How did you two meet?
Beth: Kate and me? I was on a semester abroad. We were roommates. I met my husband Rob through her. We hit it off straight away.
Zain: You and your husband.
Beth: No, me and Kate actually. We were total opposites, but just clicked. You know, right away. She’s an extrovert.

Beth: How did you meet your wife?
Zain: Mina. She was a doctor at the hospital where I was doing my nursing training? She’s like you, very trusting of people. She believed me when I say I was a nice guy and agreed to go out with me.
Beth: Is Mina okay with you helping me?
Zain: She’s dead.

Zain: [after finding out the escorts stole and pawned Kate’s bag] You think you were drugged?
Beth: I’ve never been that drunk before? They got me a glass of water. They could’ve easily slipped something into it. What if they drugged Kate too, you know? So they could rob us.
Zain: Why didn’t they take your bag too?

Zain:  Maybe Kate drugged you.
Beth: Why would she do that?
Zain: Well, she did hire them to have sex with you.
Beth: No. No. She would never hurt me.

Beth: Something bad has happened to her. I know it!

Kate: [as Beth remembers the previous night, referring to the men] I don’t think they’re serial killers, Beth. And even if they are, I don’t know if I care. Look at them.

Beth: You need to interview these men. I think they might have drugged me, or maybe both of us.
Pavic: You just said you didn’t do drugs.
Beth: I didn’t do drugs. I was drugged! There’s a difference.
Pavic: Funny you didn’t mention it before.
Beth: Because I wasn’t sure. I’m still not.

'Your heart is your guide.' - Beth (The Weekend Away) Click To Tweet

Beth: [over phone] What do you mean, Jay?
Jay: It’s a classic Kate move. Going missing? Always has to be the center of attention. She wore red on our wedding day. I mean, should’ve taken that as a warning of sharks in the water.

Beth: [over phone] Are you saying she’s faking her disappearance? Why? Why would she do that?
Jay: Because drama is embedded in her DNA like an extra chromosome. You know, she once ran off to New York for a week after we had an argument with absolutely no word if she was dead or alive. Alright, just trust me, she likes to punish people.

Rob: [after he shows up in Croatia] So what if Jay’s right, and she’s messing with us?
Beth: No. No. I know Kate. She likes to be the center of attention, yes. But she wouldn’t do this to me.

Beth: [referring to Kate’s body being found in the river] But you think it was an accident? That she fell in? Or do you think she was killed?

Rob: [to Beth, referring to Kate] I keep seeing her lying there on that slab. I feel bad, you know, for finding her annoying. I should’ve been nicer.

Kovac: [after it’s confirmed Kate’s been murdered] Did you know she was taking drugs?
Beth: Yes.
Kovac: Why didn’t you tell us?
Beth: You’d already made a judgment about who she was, and I thought it would stop you looking for her, and it did. Didn’t it?

Kovac: We interviewed people from the Blue Parlour, and several people saw you and Kate arguing when you left.
Beth: What? No. That’s not true.
Kovac: You didn’t argue with Kate then, hours before she died?

Beth: It wasn’t an argument. It was a conversation.
Kovac: I thought you didn’t recall anything about that night.
Pavic: You were drugged, remember?
Beth: No. I passed out in the taxi. But I remember some things.

Kovac: Your story keeps changing.
Beth: What are you saying? You think I have something to do with Kate’s murder?
Kovac: Is there anything else you haven’t told us?
Beth: No.

Beth: [over phone] Jay, you knew. Didn’t you? Why didn’t you tell me?
Jay: Look, I was going to, but you were about to have a baby.
Beth: My husband was having an affair with my best friend, and you didn’t think I had the right to know?

Beth: [referring to Rob’s affair with Kate] How could I have not seen it?
Zain: We don’t see what we don’t want to see.
Beth: I’ve been feeling so guilty for being so unhappy. Like I’m not grateful enough for my life, for Aster. And I was just too ashamed to look up and to see what was staring me in the face.

Zain: Do you think he could have killed Kate?
Beth: Rob? Oh, God, no.

Zain: You never wondered if it was me?
Beth: No. Too trusting, right?
Zain: One thing I have learned, never trust people, only your instincts. Where I come from, we say Alalbek Daleelek.
Beth: Your heart is your guide.

Beth: How did your wife die?
Zain: She was working in a clinic. There was a bombing, and I was late to pick her up.
Beth: It’s not your fault.

Rob: [over phone, referring to his affair with Kate] It didn’t mean anything. I only did it because we… When was the last time we had sex? You were depressed, and I…
Beth: No. No! You do not get to blame this on me!

Rob: Look, you’ve just got to come home, alright. We can’t do this over the phone.
Beth: I can’t come home, Rob, because the police have taken my passport! Because I’m sure they think I killed Kate. And if they find out about the affair, they’ll have a damn good reason too.

Kovac: [after Beth’s been arrested] Mr. Zakaria is connected to organized crime. He’s a member of an Albanian gang involved in human trafficking, among other things.
Beth: What?
Kovac: You didn’t know this about him?
Beth: No. No, of course not.

Pavic: [referring to Zain] He killed Kate.
Beth: No!
Pavic: Yes!
Beth: No! He can’t have.
Pavic: Yes. Yes. And you hired him to do it.
Beth: What?

Beth: This is insane! This is insane! You can’t possibly think I had anything to do with this! Please! Why would I want Kate dead?
Kovac: Because she was having an affair with your husband. Oh. You didn’t think we’d find out.

Zain: You think I killed Kate?
Beth: I don’t know. I don’t know who to believe.

Beth: How do I know you’re telling me the truth?
Zain: [in Arabic] Your heart is your guide.

Beth: [referring to Sebastain, who had been secretly filming her] He deleted all the videos. He’s going to tell the police I attacked him. Oh, my God. This is a nightmare.

Zain: Throat, balls, eyes. Soft targets.
Beth: Okay. I’ll remember that for next time.

Beth: [as she sees the news on TV] What does that mean?
Zain: They say you’re a suspect in Kate’s murder.

Beth: I saw the sticker in the security footage. He must’ve driven Kate home after she reported her bag stolen.
Zain: Why didn’t he say anything?
Beth: Oh, my God. Oh, my God. Oh, my God. It was him. It was him. It was Pavic.

Beth: It was you. You killed her!
Pavic: What?
Beth: You hit on her, didn’t you?
Pavic: Shut up.
Beth: My God, you did! You hit on her, and she rejected you!

Beth: [after it’s believed that Pavic killed Kate after she rejected him] She didn’t deserve this.
Kovac: No.

Beth: [after she finds Kate’s broken piece of necklace in Rob’s jacket] You killed Kate.
Rob: What?
Beth: It wasn’t Pavic. It was you.

Kate: [flashback] For God’s sake, Rob. How many times? It meant nothing.
Rob: How can you say it meant nothing? Why were we doing it if it meant nothing?

Kate: [flashback] What happened between us was a mistake. It was the biggest mistake of my life?
Rob: It wasn’t.
Kate: It was a rebound fling, and you were in the right place at the right time. That’s all.
Rob: You’re lying.
Kate: Actually, from now on, I’m only telling the truth. Maybe you should try it too.

Beth: [after Rob reveals he hit Kate, making her trip and hit her head] You let her drown.
Rob: No. No, I thought she was dead already. That’s why I left her there.
Beth: No! No. No, you didn’t. You’re lying! I saw the autopsy report. She drowned. She was alive in the water when you left her!

Beth: I will never listen to you again. I should’ve listened to Kate. That’s what the weekend was about. She wanted to remind me who I was before I met you. That I deserve better.
Rob: What are you going to do now, huh?
Beth: You killed my best friend.
Rob: You’re not going to tell the police, are you?

Rob: Please, think about Aster. You want her to grow up without a dad?
Beth: Her dad’s a murderer.
Rob: Come on. You know I’m not. No. You are not calling the police.
Beth: I already have.
[we see Kovac has been on listening on the phone, as Rob tries to stop Beth, she hits him in the throat and groin and leaves with her baby as the police arrive]
