Story:
Action adventure directed by Roar Uthaug based on the video game of the same name. Tomb Raider follows Lara Croft (Alicia Vikander), the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer, Lord Richard Croft (Dominic West), who vanished when she was scarcely a teen. Now a young woman without any real focus or purpose, Lara is Determined to forge her own path and refuses to take the reins of her father’s global empire just as staunchly as she rejects the idea that he’s truly gone. Lara can’t understand what drives her to finally solve the puzzle of his mysterious death. Going explicitly against his final wishes, she leaves everything she knows behind in search of her father’s last-known destination, a fabled tomb on a mythical island that might be somewhere off the coast of Japan.

Richard Croft: [as Lara watches her father’s video message] Lara, there was more to my life than boardrooms and business deals. There’s an organization called Trinity who’s looking to start a global genocide. You must stop them, Lara. Promise me.
Richard Croft: [to Lara] Close the tomb once and for all. The fate of humanity is now in your hands.
Lara Croft: I think I know where my dad went.

Lu Ren: That’s right in the middle of The Devil Sea.
Lara Croft: It will be an adventure.
Lu Ren: Death is not an adventure.
Lara Croft: William Tell was a myth, dad.
Richard Croft: Well, all myths have foundation in reality.
Lara Croft: I am starting to wonder if he’d gone mad though. He didn’t seem to know what was real and what wasn’t, obsessing over some ancient Japanese death queen.
Lu Ren: Hey, some men like dangerous women.

Store Owner: Can’t be too careful these days. The world has gone bloody mad.

Mathias Vogel: [to Lara] Lady’s first.

Richard Croft: No, you don’t. You’re worth ten of me. You said you don’t believe in magic. Well, what’s this, my darling? All this time here, I wished I could see you grow up. And now I have. It’s a miracle. Chin up, Sprout. There’s jobs to do. Go on, go! There’s no time, Lara! Go on, go!
[Lara reluctantly turns to leave, she looks at Richard who kisses his first two fingers and holds them up]
Richard Croft: Dad loves you.
[Lara does the same and holds her two fingers up]

Lara Croft: [points her arrow at Vogel] Put it down!
Mathias Vogel: [points his gun at Lara] It’s your finger that’s pulling this trigger.
Lara Croft: You messed with the wrong family.
Pawnbroker Alan: Oh, you again.
Lara Croft: I came back for the amulet.
Pawnbroker Alan: Shame. I was hoping you’d forgotten. It’s worth a bloody fortune.
Lara Croft: I did tell you it was your lucky day.
Pawnbroker Alan: Yes, you did.
Pamela: At it again, are we, Alan?
Pawnbroker Alan: I’m not at it.
[Lara notices the guns in one of the display units and picks up one of the guns]
Pawnbroker Alan: I don’t know if you’ve noticed or not, but you can’t be too careful these days because the world has gone bloody mad.
Pamela: Yes. Thank you, Alan.
[to Lara]
