Best Quotes (Total Quotes: 36)
Charon: I do hope that Mr. Wick finds his way to safety.
Winston: He knew the rules, he broke them. He killed a man on company grounds, Charon.
Charon: Do you expect him to make it out?
Winston: A fourteen million dollar bounty on his head, and every interested party in the city wants a piece of it, I’d say the odds are about even.
Ernest: “Consider your origins, you were not made to live as brutes, but to follow virtue and knowledge.” Dante. Looking a little run down there, John.
John Wick: Ernest. I still have time.
Ernest: It’s almost up. Who’s going to know the difference?
John Wick: You sure this is what you want to do?
Ernest: Fourteen million, it’s a lot of money.
John Wick: Not if you can’t spend it.
Switch Board Operator: John Wick, excommunicado. In effect, ten minutes.
Bowery King: Let it be known the Bowery will honor the excommunicado. No help. No services of any kind.
[as John’s being patched up]
Switch Board Operator: John Wick, excommunicado. In effect, one minute.
John Wick: Doc. Doc.
Doctor: Yeah, halfway there.
John Wick: Five seconds.
Switch Board Operator: John Wick, excommunicado. In effect in five, four…
John Wick: Three, two…
Switch Board Operator: One.
[the clock chimes]
Doctor: Sorry, Mr. Wick.
John Wick: There are rules.
Doctor: There are rules.
Switch Board Operator: John Wick, fourteen million. Open contract is now in effect. All services are suspended.
Winston: And away we go.
The Director: You know, when my pupils first come here, they wish for one thing. A life free of suffering. I try to dissuade them from these childish notions, but as you know, art is pain. Life is suffering. Somehow you managed to get out. But here you are, back where you began. All of this for what?
[in Russian]
The Director: Because of a puppy?
John Wick: It wasn’t just a puppy.
The Director: Even if I wanted to, I can’t help you, Jardani. The High Table wants your life. How can you fight the wind? How can you smash the mountains? How can you bury the ocean? How can you escape from the light? Of course, you can go to the dark. But they’re in the dark too. So tell me, Jardani, what do you really want?
John Wick: Passage.
The Director: Where did you want to go?
John Wick: Casablanca.
The Director: The path to paradise begins in hell.
[Wick offers her the crucifix as a ticket for safe passage]
The Director: So be it. You hand me your ticket, I will tear it, if that’s what you really desire.
[she takes the crucifix gives it to one of her men who then heats the crucifix in the fire in order to brand John]
The Director: With this, Jardani, your ticket is torn.
[the crucifix is then branded on John’s back]
The Director: You can never come home again.
Winston: I presume you’re here to discuss John Wick. If that’s so, we can make this short. I told him to walk away, he declined to do so. And that’s the all of it.
The Adjudicator: Mr. Wick broke the rules.
Winston: Oh, yes. And I haven’t got the slightest idea where he is.
The Adjudicator: You’re mistaken. I’m not here for Mr. Wick. I’m here because Mr. Wick broke the rules in this hotel. The blood was spilt on the grounds of The Continental, was it not?
Winston: Oh, yes. As a matter of fact, the body gets colder within these very walls.
The Adjudicator: I’d like to see it.
Winston: I have no control over Mr. Wick’s actions.
The Adjudicator: And yet he lives because you deemed it so, yes?
Winston: Yes.
The Adjudicator: You’ve known Mr. Wick for a great many years. It might even be fair to call you friends, yes? Instead of stopping him, instead of killing him, you stood by and let him walk away after he shot Santino D’Antonio in front on you.
Winston: I made him excommunicado.
The Adjudicator: But not before you gave him an hour to escape.
Winston: He broke the rules in my hotel.
The Adjudicator: This is exactly the problem, your hotel.
[as Sofia shoots him]
John Wick: Sofia, you can’t kill the bearer of your marker.
Sofia: I didn’t kill you. I just shot you. Nice suit.
John Wick: Good to see you too.
Sofia: I should shoot you in the head right now.
John Wick: I know.
[John reaches into his jacket pocket to take out his marker]
Sofia: Don’t you do it. You’re excommunicado, John. And that marker doesn’t mean shit.
John Wick: This is your blood. Your bond. When you needed help, I was there.
Sofia: Sit.
[her dogs sit]
Sofia: I was talking to you, John.
Sofia: You do realize that I’m management now, right? I’m not service anymore, John, so I don’t go around shooting people in the head.
John Wick: I’m not asking you to kill anyone. I just need you to get me to him.
Sofia: To who?
John Wick: Your old boss.
Sofia: You want to kill Berrada?
John Wick: I’m not going to kill him. I just need to talk.
Sofia: What could he possibly give to you?
John Wick: Guidance.
Sofia: If I make one mistake, one enemy, maybe somebody goes looking for my daughter. And I know what you did, John, to get her out. But that’s not a chance I can take. Sorry.
John Wick: Do you want to know where she is?
Sofia: No. I don’t ever want to know. Because I don’t trust that I won’t go find her. A part of me longs for her. And I have to kill that part of myself every day just to keep her safe. Because sometimes you have to kill what you love. That’s why I gave you that marker in the first place. And that’s why I’m sitting here right now. And that’s why I’m fucked!
John Wick: Consequences.
Sofia: Yeah. Consequences.
John Wick: I’m just asking you to try. Either way, you and me, we’ll be even.
[he puts the marker on the table and pushes it towards Sofia]
Sofia: No. After this, we are less than even.
[she pushes the marker back to John]
Zero: I wasn’t expecting the High Table so soon.
The Adjudicator: There is a task. It involves someone who broke the rules and stood against the Table.
Zero: John Wick, you mean? My students have not been idle.
The Adjudicator: John Wick and all who helped him. You’ve heard the stories about him, of course. Killed scores of men this past week alone because of…
Zero: A dog. A car. I’m familiar. And I’m interested. Very.
John Wick: We’re not going in like the old days. It’s just a conversation.
Sofia: Nothing’s ever just a conversation with you, John. Let’s go.
[as Sofia shoots Berrada]
Sofia: He shot my dog.
John Wick: I get it.
Sofia: You’re going to die, John. Whether out here on this desert, or somewhere else down the road. But you are going to die.
[John takes the marker, puts his blood next to Sofia’s and hands it to her]
John Wick: Consequences.
Sofia: Consequences.
[she drinks the last drop of water in the bottle she was about to give him, then offers him the empty bottle]
Sofia: Better get going.
John Wick: Sofia.
Bowery King: You’ve made your point. You have earned my fealty. Matter of fact, I’m going to shove so much fealty up your ass, it’s going to come spilling out of your mouth.
The Adjudicator: You had your chance.
Bowery King: Well, since you see it that way, I guess it’s time I told you to climb down off of your High Table and go fuck yourself.
The Adjudicator: Duly noted. You gave John Wick seven bullets. Your penance will be paid with seven cuts.
Bowery King: Well, sometimes you got to cut a motherfucker.
[to his pigeon]
Bowery King: Avert your eyes, my sweet. The king is dead.
[he releases the pigeon to fly off]
Bowery King: Long live the king.
The Elder: So tell me, Jonathan, why do you wish to live?
John Wick: My wife. Helen. To remember her. To remember us.
The Elder: So you seek to live for the memory of love?
John Wick: At least a chance to earn it.
The Elder: I can give you one last chance to earn a life. However, it might not be the life that you wish. Complete a task for us, and your excommunicado will be reversed. The open contract closed. You will be permitted to continue to live. Not freed under the Table, but bound to it, doing what you do best for the rest of your days. The choice is yours. Die here and now, or continue to live and remember through death.
John Wick: What must be done?
The Elder: The cost of your life will be the death of others. The first of which will be the man they call Winston.
John Wick: What?
The Elder: He has forgotten his fealty. Neither the open contract nor the excommunicado will be lifted until you complete your task. So, if you wish to live, and if you wish to remember, this is the choice you must make.
[pauses for a moment, then kneels down]
John Wick: I will serve. I will be of service.
The Elder: Very well, my son. Cast aside your weakness and reaffirm your fealty to the Table.
Zero: I got to tell you. I’ve been looking forward to meeting you for a long time. I’m a huge fan. John Wick. And so far, you haven’t disappointed.
[John’s dog runs over to him]
Zero: Is that the dog?
[as the dog is licking John’s face]
Zero: He likes you. Oh, but me, I’m more of a cat person myself.
The Adjudicator: Mr. Wick, it’s a pleasure to meet you. I am an adjudicator. Have you decided to step down?
Winston: I think not.
The Adjudicator: And you, will you be putting a bullet in his head?
John Wick: No, I don’t think I will.
[John gives Winston his gun]
The Adjudicator: Very well.
[she turns and makes a phone call]
Administrator: Administration.
The Adjudicator: I’d like to change a designation.
Administrator: Verification?
The Adjudicator: Adjudication 1011979. The Continental Hotel, New York.
Administrator: New designation?
The Adjudicator: Deconsecrated.
Administrator: Processing.
Winston: This haven is safe no more.
John Wick: Are services still off limits to me?
Winston: Under the circumstances, your privileges are reinstated immediately. What do you need?
John Wick: Guns. Lots of guns.
Charon: [to John] Let us begin.
Winston: Charon, will you help set the mood for our new guests?
Charon: Of course, sir.
Winston: I know you’ll do The Continental proud.
Charon: I’ll see you soon, sir.
Winston: And you, Jonathan, do what you do best.
John Wick: What’s that?
Winston: Hunt.
[John leaves with his ammo]
Winston: Si vis pacem, para bellum.
[subtitled]
Winston: If you want peace, prepare for war.
Zero: Hey, John. That was a pretty good fight, huh?
John Wick: Yeah.
[John gets up and starts to walk away]
Zero: Don’t worry about me, John. I just got to catch my breath. I’ll catch up to you, John.
[John stops and turns to look at him]
John Wick: No, you won’t.
The Adjudicator: [to Winston] You gentlemen, of course, realize that was the first wave. Merely an amuse-bouche. We can keep this up as long as you’d like, but it only ends one way.
The Adjudicator: Are we negotiating?
Winston: I believe we are.
[John enters the room]
John Wick: Parley?
Winston: Parley.
The Adjudicator: What do you propose we do?
Winston: Let me keep my power.
The Adjudicator: Under the Table?
[he nods his head]
Winston: I have served and been a beacon of order and stability to our industry for over forty years. Now, I humbly acknowledge I overstepped and repledge my fealty to the High Table.
John Wick: Winston.
The Adjudicator: You were merely showing strength so we would let you keep The Continental. The High Table accepts your fealty. But what about him? What are we going to do about John Wick?
Winston: Oh, he has to die.
[suddenly he shoots John repeatedly]
Winston: Sorry, Jonathan.
John Wick: Winston!
Winston: Don’t see any other way.
[he shoots at John again causing him to fall off the Continental’s roof]
The Adjudicator: Very well, gentlemen. The Continental will now be reconsecrated. Good day to you both.
[she walks off]
Charon: Well played, sir.
The Adjudicator: Mr. Wick is gone.
Winston: A true tragedy.
The Adjudicator: You misunderstand. I mean that he is no longer on the street.
Winston: Seems improbable.
The Adjudicator: And yet true. I trust you understand the repercussions if he survives both from above and below. The last thing either one of us needs is Mr. Wick paying us a visit in the night. For both our sakes, I hope you see to it that this situation is taken care of, yes?
Winston: Absolutely. How far can he get?
[she turns and walks off]
Winston: Baba Yaga.
[a wounded John is delivered to a scarred Bowery King]
Bowery King: How you doing, John? Well, you look as bad as I feel.
[laughs softly]
Bowery King: Johnny, Johnny, Johnny. Raise a hand if you can hear me, John.
[Wick raises his hand, which is missing his wedding finger]
Bowery King: Oh, shit. They took a finger. Ain’t that a bitch.
[he laughs as John gives him the finger]
[last lines; referring to Winston]
Bowery King: Oh, John fucking Wick. So, the old boy keeps his hotel and you take the fall. Can’t say I blame him, I would’ve done the same thing if I was in his shoes. But this High Table shit, seven cuts. Under the table is where shit gets done. And they’re about to find out if you cut a king, you better cut him to the quick. So, let me ask you, John. How do you feel? Because I am really pissed off. You pissed, John? Hm? Are you?
[John looks up at Bower King]
John Wick: Yeah.

Trailer:
Hi, adjudicator says when she visits the bowery King, “Do not make the mistake of thinking you exist outside the rules, no men do”.
John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum
Chad Stahelski director and script writer included some Latin phrases into dialogue.
John Wick as film it is unique in action, drama and characters. I always say, dialogue is a wit of cinema. John Wick is more than a film. Audience has chosen John Wick 3 over Avengers End Game means they love the film. Dialogue has always been a pivotal part of cinema. As a linguist I have noted down some words and phrases which has shaped the style of film.
There was one more by Winston.
“Si vis pacem, para bellum.”
Means “If you want peace, prepare for war.”
I like when sofia said “Sometimes you gotta kill what you love”
