Starring: Ralph Ineson, Anya Taylor Joy, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, Lucas Dawson
OUR RATING: ★★★★☆
Story: Horror written and directed by Robert Eggers, set in New England, 1630 and the story follows William and Katherine (Ralph Ineson and Kate Dickie) that lead a devout Christian life who after getting cast out of their colonial plantation are forced to survive living along the edge of a vast wilderness rumored to be controlled by witches.
When one of their five children goes missing and their life-sustaining crops fail, they fall victim to paranoia and fear as they begin to turn on one another. The decimation of their family unit creates an opportunity for incredible evil to emerge and attempt to destroy them all.
Verdict: Great slow burner psychological horror which is disturbing, nerve-wracking and gives just the right amount of suspense. The film delivers on the acting, how authentic it looks with some incredibly creepy and unsettling moments.REVIEWS

William: Was it not for the pure and faithful dispensation of the Gospels, and the Kingdom of God?
Old Slater: No More! We are your judges, and not you ours!
William: I cannot be judged by false Christians, for I have done nothing, save preach Christ’s true Gospel.
Governor: Must you continue to dishonor the laws of the commonwealth and the church with your prideful conceit?

Thomasin: I am.

Thomasin: He bade me bring him an unbaptized babe, so I stole Sam, and I gave him to my master. And I’ll make any man or thing else vanish I like.
